Listening to the comments from other bloggers made me feel ambarrased on how we 'Melayu' just think issues are just issues. We have never take matters seriously, and really fight for what we believe in. The worst we could do is not to vote in the next election (that is usually just 'hangat2 tahi ayam' vendata, as Pak Mahathir said, Melayu has only 3 months memory retention: believe me, he is right).

What are we and who are we as 'Melayu' has eluded most of the bijak pandai, finding our roots, missions and direction are a tantamount task. Yea, we were from here and there, supposed to do this and that, but, what does it means??? We have read and heard our history teacher told us about what this man called Hang Tuah said 'Tak Melayu Hilang DiDunia', and were so proud of it. But my question is, 'was that statement as myth as the person who said it???'.

These NST, 30 cents petrol hike, MRR2, or any other issues in Tanah Melayu are just propaganda to keep our minds away from the actual issues.

Believe me, walillahi, the actual issues are, no matter what happened, our government have failed to pull itself out of the economic glut...

Our Government cannot PROTECT its own people's lifestyle...

Our Government cannot MAINTAIN Islam as the religious of the country...

Our Government cannot protect the fate of 'Bangsa Melayu'...

Our Government has failed to increase Melayu's holding in economy to 30%...

Our Government has failed as the government that supposed to PROTECT every aspect of the country...

Our Government of Malaysia TODAY has no clue how not to make the people that they suppose to PROTECT suffer from its own weaknesses.

Of course...reasons and vendata will flood those who critize the government, but walillahhi, for ONCE, I want to SEE, HEAR and GET SOME ACCOUNTABILITIES FROM THOSE WHO CALLED THEMSELVES AS THE SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE!!!

So wake up anda smell some coffee, or the pile of dung at our backyard, and tell these SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE TO SHAPE UP OR GET OUT!!! DONT LIE ANYMORE TO US...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22873867.post-1141174404939526972006-03-01T08:53:00.000+08:002006-03-01T08:53:00.000+08:00Salam Datuk.

Datuk was against the NST sementara Jeff Ooi was against, or just being cynical to, the government.

ALGIERS, Feb 13 - Algeria and Yemen have arrested journalists working for newspapers that have reprinted cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that led to protests around the world.

On Sunday, Algeria closed two newspapers and arrested their editors for printing the images of the cartoons of the Prophet.

Kahel Bousaad and Berkane Bouderbala, respectively editors of the pro-Islamist weeklies, Errisala and Iqraa, were detained last week and will appear before an investigating judge in Algiers on Monday, staff of the two Arabic newspapers said.

A member of Iqraa's staff said: "The cartoons published in our weekly were [deliberately] fogged. They were accompanied by an article denouncing them."

The authorities were not immediately available for comment.

The Algerian authorities have condemned the cartoons and urged the Danish government to punish those behind their publication.

Reprinting in Yemen

Yemen detained three journalists on Sunday and is seeking a fourth after closing three publications that printed the cartoons. Al-Hurriya, Yemen Observer and al-Rai al-Aam were shut and their case sent to prosecutors.

The officials said those detained are Mohammad al-Asaadi, the editor-in-chief of the English-language Yemen Observer, Akram Sabra, the managing editor of al-Hurriya weekly newspaper and reporter Yehiya al-Abed of Hurriya.

The prosecution has issued a warrant for Kamal al-Aalafi, the editor-in-chief of al-Rai al-Aam.

The Yemeni journalists' association called for the release of the journalists and for the annulment of the closure decrees "because these measures were not ordered by a court".

"Reprinting the drawings was in the framework of responding to what the Danish newspaper published and informing the public about the offence to the Prophet," the message said.

This is not the first time the cartoons have appeared in the Arab press.

In October, the Egyptian Newspaper Al Fagr printed and condemned the cartoons, and last month two Jordanian newspapers published the images.

Jordan arrested Hashem al-Khalidi, editor-in-chief of a weekly tabloid called Al-Mehwar and Jihad Momani, the former editor-in-chief of Shihane newspaper.

Datuk,

German theater chain yanks controversial 'Wolves'
Friday February 24, 2006 3:17 AM ET

German multiplex giant CinemaxX has pulled the Turkish action blockbuster "Valley of the Wolves: Iraq" from theaters after accusations that the film, which stars Billy Zane and Gary Busey, is anti-Semitic and anti-American.

CinemaxX, Germany's largest exhibition chain, dropped "Valley of the Wolves" from its lineup this week, deciding not to renew its rental contract with German distributor Maxximum.

The move follows a targeted media campaign by German politicians who claim the movie is "hateful and dangerous" because it depicts U.S. troops in Iraq committing multiple atrocities and because one of its bad guys, played by Busey, is a Jewish-American doctor dealing in stolen organs.

"The controversy surrounding this film has really heated up," CinemaxX spokesman Arne Schmidt explained. "We didn't want to add oil to the fire, so we decided to pull the film."

Leading German politicians, including Bavarian Premier Edmund Stoiber and Green Party leader Reinhard Buetikofer, have publicly condemned "Valley of the Wolves" and called on movie theaters to not screen the film.

Stoiber has even demanded that the Turkish government apologize for "Valley of the Wolves," saying that refusing to do so could hurt Turkey's chances of being accepted as a full member of the European Union.

Stoiber's comments come in the midst of another debate concerning political controversy and artistic freedom. Cartoons lampooning the Islamic prophet Mohammed, printed in European newspapers, have sparked angry and often violent protests by Muslim groups across the Middle East.

"It is no coincidence that politicians, particularly on the right, are attacking this movie now, when we are in the middle of the controversy over the Mohammed cartoons," Maxximum chief Anil Sahin said. "This is being used as a political football to score points. I wonder if any of the politicians has actually seen the movie. It's just a fun, silly action flick -- 'Rambo' told from the other side."

Controversy certainly hasn't hurt "Valley of the Wolves." The film is setting boxoffice records in its home country and has proved a crossover success in European territories with a sizable Turkish minority. The film has so far sold about 280,000 tickets in Germany, home to 3 million ethnic Turks.

"Valley of the Wolves" also is doing well in limited release in the U.K., Benelux and Scandinavia. The movie hits French theaters next week.

In Germany, Maxximum is expanding its release from 65 to 86 screens as media coverage of the controversy boosts interest in the film.

"As a business man, I can only thank German politicians for helping to sell my movie," Sahin said. "As a democrat, however, I am disgusted with this attempt to play politics with the basic rights of free speech and expression." -- Reuters/Hollywood Reporter

Mungkin saya dianggap menganut konsep kebebasan media ala Barat oleh sebilangan orang di negara kita; tetapi jika mereka berfikir panjang, jujur dan ilmiah, pastilah kartun NST tersebut TIDAK BOLEH dianggap "menghina Nabi" seperti didakwa oleh beberapa pihak dalam kontroversi minggu lepas.

Ya, saya mudah bersetuju jika ada pihak mengatakan kartun Wiley Miller itu "menyindir umat Islam". Tetapi kartun itu menyindir umat Islam di sisi agamakah (religious side of the issue) atau di sisi politikkah (political side of the issue)?

Salam, faomar@yahoo.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22873867.post-1140941454127514242006-02-26T16:10:00.000+08:002006-02-26T16:10:00.000+08:00people come and go in new straits times though not...people come and go in new straits times though not very often.
some resign, some voluntarily go with financial incentives, some not with anything.
quit harping on whether they are malays, indians or chinese as the staffers are all malaysians. this race thing should be behind us by now.
imho, the newspaper is far better now than when you were in charge. and heck, you were friends with the then prime minister too - evidenced by the number of page one photos featuring him and reports quoting him. let's not forget you were in cahoots with anwar ibrahim too.
and you know, mempersendakan orang islam is not an offence like mempersendakan the Holy Prophet.
see you around in devi's corner or rajoo's.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22873867.post-1140876048747010452006-02-25T22:00:00.000+08:002006-02-25T22:00:00.000+08:00clear cut double standard....kalau srawak tribune ...clear cut double standard....kalau srawak tribune kena tutp apa pulak keramat NST kebai sangat...teruskan bercakap datuk..kena ada org macam datuk utk cakap benda2 macam..harap dia org...terbang melayang melayuAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
