WITH the dearth of good news – big and small – to lift our spirit lately, what could be better than to hear Negaraku being played at the Hungaroring in Budapest, last night.
No, it was not to welcome a big shot from Malaysia. That we have heard pretty often.
The occasion was the victory of the Malaysian driver, Fairuz Fauzy, 27 in the Renault World Series race in Hungarian capital, which was broadcast live by satellite station Eurosport.
Fairuz who drove for the Malaysian-owned Mofaz-Fortec Motorsport team came from a distant 15th on the grid to beat Alvaro Baba and Bertrand Baguette of International Draco Racing.
Syabas Fairuz and syabas Mofaz-Fortec Motorsport .
It’s indeed rare for Negaraku to be played anywhere in the world to mark a victory of any sort for Malaysia.
But please don’t insult him by hurrying to offer him a datukship. Like I often say, honorific titles in Malaysia are a dime a dozen. That’s because he have many Rulers and many popularity-seeking Chief Ministers – the purveyors of “politik pingat.”
Yes Bravo MaLaysia.!!
Ranking kita dah merudum macam jugak team bolasepak kita.

ReplyDeleteAppreciate your Ending Comments....
He is certainly not just a "passenger" on this Circuit.
In addition to your comments on the Datukship...We hope he will also not embark on a Seminar Presentation Circuit, and overcharging Government Departments for it!
Terpandang gammbar Nik Aziz dan Kuan Yew sambil nik aziz mengangkat tangan memberi isyarat 'bagus'.
ReplyDeleteAduh!! sedih bukan kepalang.
mudahnya bangsa kita dimomok2kan.
It is also the evil Barisan Nasional that gave national news to PKR's impressive party reforms in terms of leadership elections. So evil are these Barisan Nasional's linked media companies till they frequently allocate national news to PKR, PAS and DAP on their calls for reforms.

ReplyDeleteGo the next level Fairuz.....probably F1
ReplyDeleteAlso watch the progress of our young boy Jazeman, son of Dato' Jaafar Hamid. Another up and coming young racer. Only 16 years old. Hopefully, he will shine to become a Formula 1 racer.
ReplyDeleteDatuk Zaid Ibrahim, after long last joined PKR as announced by Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.

From Umnoputra to Noputra !! Mana ada prinsip. I don't have high regard with this kind of person. What is he trying to prove? To me, knowing his backgroud he is just an impressionist. I think it is a fair statement from me. No malice at all against him.
Prestige, once its gone, it can never be reinstated.

Scribe,
ReplyDeleteSo which will it be?
Tan Sri, Datuk Seri, or Tun?
(Tun Dr A Kadir Jasin sounds goooooo-d)
(have we got any great tennis players in the ATP circuit, Pak Kadir?)
Well done Fairuz. I'm also looking forward to seeing Jazlan Hamid make Malaysia motor sports proud.
ReplyDeleteTears were in my eyes when the strains of negaraku were played in Budapest that day..but tears again came to my eyes when no media (except nst)picked up the news of such national pride.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened and what's happening to us? What's the reason for the silence. Is it sheer negligence or ignorance or may be indifference or are we too busy with petty politics..putting national agenda and pride at the bottom of our priorities.
How come nobody acknowledge our cycling sprint world champion? azizul Hasnan his name. Suppose to bring back gold in beijing but lost in semifinals.
ReplyDeleteSALAM DAK

Salam Dato'
