Incorrect Strategy Cost BN Votes

A Kadir Jasin

TWICE the Finance Minster of Malaysia and now a sought after political commentator, Tun Daim Zainuddin, attributed the Barisan Nasional’s poor showing at the May 5 general polls to incorrect strategy.

He told the China Press newspaper that Malaysia’ general elections is a parliamentary election and not a presidential election, adding that Prime Minister Mohd Najib Abdul Razak’s advisors should be sacked.

“If you associate a vote for BN as a vote for him (Mohd Najib), then BN’s poorer results reflect on him too.

“This is a parliamentary election, not a presidential election. The PM's advisors should be sacked.” he said.

And is Mohd Najib a lame duck Prime Minister and Umno President?

The following is the English transcript of the interview, which covered a wide variety of issues surrounding the outcome of the 13th GE, made available to this blog. I record my appreciation to the China Press for its superb effort and to Tun Daim’s office.

The Day After

1. Tun, what was first in your mind when you first received the full election result? Did you expect it?

I wasn't surprised.  At around 12noon the feedback I got was that - BN 141, DAP 38 but my own assessment was BN between 125 and 135 only.

2. Do you think this election was a fair one? Opposition parties and NGOs still accused BN of misuse the government facilities, and the problematic integrity of the electoral roll.

Of course it is fair. If its not fair how come in Penang and Selangor Pakatan improved on majorities and Federal BN get only 133. These accusations are not new. They said all these even before the elections. I’ve said earlier that they will be saying all these because they know they can't get to Putrajaya.

Read my interviews before this, I said they will be proclaiming to  the world they would win and that if they don’t its because they have been robbed and therefore entitled to protest, incite people which is what they are doing now and they want people to go to streets. They want FRUs, water cannons and teargas then CNN, Al Jazeera etc will be back and they are back in the news.

Anwar and Kit Siang are inviting police to arrest them. They want to be arrested. They are totally irresponsible. If you see the recent rallies and that majority of the participants are Chinese, what do you think will happen if one hot-headed Malay organisation wants to organise a counter rally? But Anwar and Kit Siang don't mind, if there is another interracial incident, they would blame BN.  If you are willing to sacrifice peace and stability for your ends, what kind of leadership is this?

They say they should be the rightful leaders of this country, yet they defy laws, defy the police, and they have no respect for, and undermine every institutions of government which they say they should helm. What kind of leadership promotes lawlessness and anarchy? What message do you send and what lessons do you teach the young and the impressionable? Leadership comes with responsibility.

There are laws in this country. Go to court, of course, they say courts are not fair, yet these same courts have acquitted Anwar. Again when it’s convenient to them they go to the courts to sue and silence their detractors. They accept where they won and reject where they lost.  They are selective. Karpal practices and appeals before this same Court.

Be brave and honest. Accept the results. Karpal says he is happy with the results. PAS has accepted. Azmin is critical of Anwar’s refusal to accept the results and doing these rallies, but don't read too much into his statements. It’s like an old married couple’s quarrel, one party merajuk (sulks) but in the end they are still together.

Anwar is already up to his tricks - putting out feelers to Barisan MPs. He is waiting after the Cabinet appointments for another round of his Sept 16.

Reasons for Poor BN Performance

3. As expected in our last interview, BN managed to retain Putrajaya but couldn't regain the two-third majority. What are the main reasons?

Really you should ask BN. But in my opinion, it’s the wrong strategy. As I’ve said before, this is a parliamentary election, not a presidential election. The PM's advisors should be sacked. If you associate a vote for BN as a vote for him, then BN poorer results reflects on him too.  I kept reminding them that those huge numbers at BN’s ceramahs do not translate into votes. You don’t try to fight his (Anwar’s) numbers with your even bigger numbers. Let Anwar be the entertainer (borrowing from The Financial Times). We are not entertainers, we don’t know how to sing, dance and tell jokes.  It’s a serious business electing a government, so lets leave this clown’s strategy alone and not play to his game.

If I know, then surely BN knows that the Chinese majority areas were gone. Why waste time and money? As a strategy, you should concentrate on those areas where you lost by slim majorities in 2008 and strengthen the seats you won in 2008. There was also the question of choice of candidates, and for example in Pandan, why be petty?

Many people disputed that there was a Chinese tsunami.  But there was, in the sense that Chinese voters voted en block whilst non-Chinese votes were split; but this is their right. This is democracy.

What was disturbing was the reason for the en block votes. Pakatan preached hatred for BN particularly UMNO. DAP have always told the Chinese that they are victims, marginalised; that the cup they have is always half empty; that this is the time to teach MCA and Gerakan a lesson for being under UMNO’s control, that UMNO (and by extension the Malays) were dominant, and this was a Malay-led government, and the Chinese by voting out all the Chinese parties in BN is saying that they have had enough of being bullied by UMNO/ Malays. If this is not racist, I don’t know what is.

Their cybertroopers were at work, 24 hours a day, sending misinformation, spins, rumours, lies, untruths etc. Where were the Banglas? Where was the blackout? How many people whose ink washed off, voted twice? Tun M flew away in a private jet? Lies and lies and the Chinese believe in "ubah" and "Ini kali lah".

I told you if the Chinese rejected Najib's leadership, the rural votes will swing to BN. DAP benefited the most. PAS, I do not know how it is going to reorganise itself. PKR we know practice nepotism, ask Azmin.

As for the Indian votes, only some Indians votes came back to BN. Koh Tsu Koon has announced his retirement. Chua Soi Lek is not seeking re-election. In the West you lose, you retire. Brown retired. Here they are not morally strong to quit. Anwar stays on, Kit Siang stays on, Hadi stays on. Let me remind you, Anwar said he would retire if he failed to get to Putrajaya. Anwar does not keep to his word. He will never retire, until the day he is on his deathbed he would still want to be PM.

Let’s recognize that nowhere in the world is it easy to get a two-third majority. Urban voters everywhere in the world are anti-government. BN's strength lies in the rural areas. Yet too much time and money were wasted in urban areas where the results were almost certain.

4. Chinese votes for opposition even reached over 90%, why? From your observation, why MCA and Gerakan rejected by the Chinese? We still remember in 2004 the situation was totally different.

I have explained at length in the answer above. Chinese votes for the Pakatan reached 90% because they believed in Pakatan’s propaganda. This is at last the chance to reject the Malay-led BN.  We saw on polling day many Chinese came out in droves believing that Pakatan was going to win. They were all misled. Pakatan knew that they were not going to get the numbers. Imagine Chinese voting for PAS, when they have seen what was happening in Kedah and Kelantan. Chinese voters were taken for a ride that they were going to make the difference. If Hindraf can affect the 2008 results, imagine what the Chinese with their bigger number can do? This was the line given and they swallowed it. In 2004, Chinese gave the then PM with his clean image a chance but that got to BN’s head and 2008 was the result. In 2013, Pakatan tapped into the Chinese and urban psyche. The Chinese are practical people and if they felt that the votes could go either way, they would not take a chance and choose stability over change; but if they believed that they can change the Government and win, then they did what you see in GE13. But Chinese normally bet on minority horse.

5. By analysing the results, we can see DAP won more seats this time and seats won by PKR and PAS also close to their numbers in 2008. Does it mean Malay votes still split? How about Indian votes?

Malay votes split 4 ways. UMNO, PAS, Keadilan and fence sitters. Lucky for BN, this time most went to UMNO. Less than 50% of Indian voters voted BN.

People’s Real Concerns

6. Why the 1Malaysia plans, ETP, transformation plans did not work and caused BN a bigger loss?

I don't think people reject 1Malaysia, ETP etc. The issues were not these. In all my earlier interviews I had listed the rakyat’s concern. These were and still are 1) corruption 2) good governance 3) security 4) education 5) inflation 6) urban poor 7) young graduates. Government instead focused on giving handouts. You give dinner once, people thank you. Give them five times and they think you are trying to buy their votes.

7. Even though you have given your warning, but the so-called Chinese Tsunami was so big to be stopped. But, is it fair to blame the Chinese for BN's not so good victory?

I have explained the Chinese tsunami. Of course, Pakatan have to say it is not Chinese tsunami, otherwise they will be held responsible for this racial divide. Are they denying the Chinese voted en block and Malay votes were split? No one is blaming the Chinese, but this what it is.  As I said they were misled and they voted Pakatan but again it is their right to buy into that argument and voted to kick the BN out.

8. How to change their minds or should BN given up Chinese by promoting the Ketuanan Melayu sprit to rely more on the support of Malays?

You can always try and you must try to change their minds. You cannot give up on nearly 30% of your fellow citizens. But you have to address issues as in my answer to Question 6.

Ketuanan Melayu was when the Malays fought against Malayan Union. Ketuanan Melayu was in the Federation of Malaya Agreement of 1948.  After 1957 and later in 1963, there is constitutional Malaysia. All races have accepted the Constitution. It is a fine and well-balanced document.  Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore too had accepted this document. The Constitution protects all citizens. We are all Malaysians. As I said, I'm born a Malay, you are born a Chinese. We don't chose to be Malay or Chinese, but you and I choose to be Malaysians. That is our choice. If I don't like to be a Malaysian, I can choose to be something else also. So let us stay united and work hard and sincerely and make sure the country continues to prosper in peace.

9. Najib has offered a “reconciliation" plan. How serious is he? In addition, if this plan is necessary, how should Najib deal with it?

I am glad he offered reconciliation. He must be serious. You don't make statements you don't mean. You are a leader. But I read Pakatan has rejected his overtures, they talk about unity but do not practice it. Instead they offer preset conditions.  Are they sincere?  As leaders, the country must come first.

10. How is this so-called process of reconciliation ever going to take place when chauvinists and radicals still there to give their provoking remarks?

We, the rakyat must reject the chauvinists and the radicals. Government must take action against them. Rakyat must show support against these people. Country must come first. Whatever you may think about the Malays, they have shown that they reject extremists.  They rejected Perkasa, Ibrahim Ali and Zulkifly Nordin.

Najib A Lame Duck PM?

11. Some people say Najib is a lame duck Prime Minister, he has not only has to think of how to regain the support of non-Malays but has to guard against the wolves in his party. Will he encounter any problem when party election takes place this year?

I have retired. I don't know the mood is in the party. He has to explain to party members what went wrong. Is he going to be a lame duck PM? Cameron in UK, Gilliard in Australia, Mohan Singh in India so far are ok even though in their cases they are ruling on razor thin majority.

UMNO has to remain united if it wants to get the support of Malays. Strengthen your rural support and the rest of the Malays will respect UMNO. If he explains to UMNO what went wrong then I think UMNO will accept and offer their support. It will take a bit of time with the Divisions and he has to make sure they continue to support him and he has to tell UMNO members that only UMNO is their saviour. I believe UMNO members will give him another chance. Those disloyal, you must punish them. But prove with evidence.  You have the Opposition to deal with you don’t need enemies in the blanket.  You don’t need over 3 millions members if they did not work or vote for you. It is better to have a smaller but committed membership who love the party and want what is best of it. For far too long, UMNO has had members who placed self-interest above the party.

12. Please analyse the result for Selangor. Far from what we expected, BN lost more seats and more popular votes this time despite of thousand good efforts had been put?

Selangor was a disaster. When I got feedback on the problems on the ground, I sent many messages to the leadership. I spoke to Zain (Mohd Zain Mohamed, the BN Selangor Election Director). He assured me of victory, totally ignoring the voices on the ground. His own Ketua Pemuda stood against him and so many ketua bahagians campaigned against him.

I think Zain was a wrong  choice. He was dropped from Cabinet by Najib because obviously he didn’t think much of his ability and then you appoint him as Selangor UMNO Secretary. I don't understand Najib’s logic. When you all asked me at the last interview, I said there were problems of wrong candidates. Ketua Bahagians’ were not happy. Among UMNO (members) sabotage was everywhere. I told Zain a list of state seats that were in trouble. Zain said yes a bit of problem but BN would win. In all those seats that were in my list, BN lost. With wrong candidates not going to the ground, ignoring divisional chiefs, not visiting your members and voters, sabotage, you couldn't win.

When I was in Negeri Sembilan campaigning on Friday night, I got a message that Bukit Selambau state seat under the Merbok Parlimentary seat was in trouble.  I got back to KL at 2 am and a few hours later, early on Saturday morning, I flew to Kedah. They were still quarrelling about the state candidate, even when it’s one day before polling. I told them they were crazy. Just vote BN. Told them they had half a day left to campaign and go together and campaign and be seen to be united. They lost by 500 votes because they closed their pondok panas by 4pm, confident that they had won. I smsed you by noon that BN won Merbok but the Indians there have to quarrel even at the last minute about candidates and we lost. We are our own worst enemies.

13. As well as in Penang. Before 5 May, BN seemed to have some hope as the 1Malaysia welfare group had organized many free dinners around Penang and free concert. They tried to attract the voters with money and presents. But, all effort proved useless. Why?

These people are amateurs. They are silly people. They think they are clever and throw money around. Better give to charity. Why BN allowed stupid events like these? People are insulted because they knew you thought they could be bought with money, concerts and dinners.  So they came to relax, have free makan and  be entertained. This is an election. It’s a serious matter. Let Anwar be the entertainer.

  3. A Kadir Jasin,
    Salaams

As for Daim, where is the halal toyibban bank that he can claim is the model for the real islamic banking and finance? or is he a Grameen Bank man?

As for the mahathir's syiah move: it will backfire on him. Both Daim and mahatir are useless oldmen with retrograde values: islam setengah masak: hukum islam tak sesuai kata mereka dalam negara sekular-islam.

Daim terhutang budi kepada wall street dan afrika is not his backyard.

    Salam Datuk,

  5. i'm not stupid to believe your words daim. there's clearly fraud in the last election. it's a very one-sided election. it's like watching david fighting goliath. it's a miracle the opposition got the popular vote of 52% as oppose to bn's 47% judging by the way bn manipulated all gov's agencies and media. when the govt announced br1m up to rm1200, i thought pr would face massive defeat in the election but i was dead wrong. by the way, the indelible ink washed off with just 2 baths and i dind't even try to rub it off while bathing.

    Dato.

Komen 1 salah strategi PM Nsjib.
    -----------------------------------

Itulah hal UMNO.PKR/DAP/PAS terlalu yakin mendahului takdir.

Kenapa UMNO/BN kalah kerana pengundi atas pagar semua kaum kurang senang dgn UMNO/BN.

Sebenarnya Anuar Ibrahim bukanlah isu besar sangat.

Tak guna kalau mana pihak berjaya Melayu/Islam terhimpit.

Ingatlah musuh Melayu/Islam cari ruang sahaja,

    Jumpa lagi.

    Terima kasih.

    Salam Dato',

1.I have no surprise on the results and I think it is the fairest election so far.Let PKR/PR Rafizi and Anwar submit their petitions provided for to high court. We have to assume that there is no blackout in Selabgor and Penang, that the 40k odd Banglas exist until proven not and that there were attempts to vote twice because the dakwat provided may easily be washed by sabun within two hours. That being the case Anwar/Rafizi have a case.We shall wait for the outcome. After all Anwar has made too many promises and the chinese voters believe him.

2.Daim analysis is nothing to shout about.Essentially, he is a money man busy in Africa and I think he spend more time overseas than here.I attended his lectures on Malaysia economy two years ago for Yayasan Tun Razak at UTAR city campus. It was a so so.Many people have high regards for Daim not me.I have more respect for Tun the transformer.Daim should spend his money helping more malays building up their business here.

3.All has accepted the fact that it was still a BN again except Anwar.Pas and DAP agreed so why don't we just move on and cuba LAIN KALI LAH!!.

Want to know more read my buddy Aspan Alias blog recent article on Anwar. Though Aspan is a DAP man we both agree that Anwar is no longer relevant.

4.The Chinese voters have a lot to reflect on their decision to vote out a moderate BN government that failed.

Jangan salahkan rakyat kerana mengundi PR.

KAWASAN BANDAR UMNOBN KALAH. Hanya 2 bandar ibu negeri sahaja milik UMNO, iaitu JB dan KANGAR. Lain, PR punya!

    SEBAB???

Orang bandar mahu perbincangan ilmiah, debat ilmiah. Bila PR cabar BN, seorang pun dari BN tak sanggup. Pasal apa tak sanggup? Kalau BN dilihat menang debat, bolehjadi BN menang pilihanraya.

TAPI, SEORANGPUN dari Presiden Bn hingga ke budak pejabat BN, seorang pun tak berani nak debat.

RAFIZI kata, boleh turun harga kereta. DEBATLAH, kata tak boleh turun harga kereta.

ANWAR kata boleh turunharga minyak. Pi lah berdebat.

ps. TABIK SHABERY CHEK! Kalah menang, ATAS PAGAR tentukan, bukan ahli parti dan penyokong masing-masing!

Senyum sikit saya baca "Interview" ngan Daim.

Is it only me, or is Anwar getting on the nerves of everyone of our so-called tokoh2 "negarawan"? berapa kali dia belasah Anwar as this and that. Adoi :)

Yang saya tak faham kenapa isu2 rakyat tak pergi kat atas dalam perkiraan KENAPA BN kalah?

Tak. Daim dok go on and on pasai strategi. PR takkan ada peluru nak shoot other than on Principles and ideologies.

Very entertaining. AND YET THEY SAY ANWAR IS THE ENTERTAINER.

Ini bukan masa main carrot and stick.

    2. Hidup kena lah ada dignity.Rakyat memilih pemimpin bukan untuk menkayakan mereka tapi untuk membela rakyat.
Jangan dah buat salah tapi masih gila kuasa-- contoh Sharizat.

    Dear Saudara DAKJ,

Thank you for sharing with us the prescribed interview by Tun Daim given to China Press and his vivid and concised thoughts on the pre and post 13th general election.

Given Daim's stature and his long political exposure, both from inside and outside the BN corridor of power, I have no doubt in his detailed analysis of the PRU13 which was fairly accurate, though the circumstances as stated could be a difference of opinion due to his close relationship with past and present UMNO/BN leaders. Daim would be seen as being compromised to some of his close political confides including Tun Mahathir. We can't fault Daim if he is a political gentleman and do not go for a witch hunt!

Under the current political situation and the free fall of political interference, we should not blame that BN lost due to the so called "Chinese tsunami" as perceived by many. My opinion differs that the voting patterns in the 13th GE were too racial centric, that had resulted the swing of votes from both the majority of the Chinese and Malays in the urban constituencies and those in the rural areas. The urban Chinese were over confident that Pakatan Rakyat will win as DAP being the fore front Chinese party will bring in the wining stakes.

However, they were disappointed that they were led to believe by the convincing tactics of DAP and PKR with the lukewarm support of PAS. Truly, the majority of the Chinese were disappointed and felt guilty that they had voted against BN under the tolerant leadership of Najib or fondly known as Ah Jib Gor. Now, apart from some die hard supporters of DAP and PKR, the majority have come to their senses and regretted to have caused Najib the political headache and resentment.

In conclusion, maybe getting the actual transcript of the interview in Chinese from China Press directly could throw some light with better understanding and accuracy. I am not doubtful that there is bound to be some differences in the English translated text from the original Chinese text.

    Salam Datuk AKJ..

Terima kasih.

BN has won the PR13 with a convincing majority considering the maturity of our democracy and getting a two third majority is something not possible with a large percentage of young voters always has the tendency to give their votes to the opposition party.
We must accept the fact that the young Malay voters can easily be influenced by rhetoric speech by political clown like Anwar or Mat Sabu because they don't see the importance of election as the determinant of their future destiny. The BN lost heavily in Kelang Valley because most of the voters are young generation migrating from other states and they believe Anwar can reduce their cost of living in KL by abolishing tolls or numerous other promises.

I agree with Daim that Najib had made mistake by trying to win the urban areas instead of focusing or areas that BN had lost marginally in the PR12 in the rural areas.

The Chinese had made their decision to reject BN and they only believe that DAP can protect their interest in this country although they control almost everything in this country except the political power at the Federal Government. We can conclude that they don't believe in the concept of sharing although the Chinese community had gained more compared to other races from the political stability that we had been enjoying since the independence.

Najib had made a right decision by not having ministers from MCA and GERAKAN in the present Cabinet. But Najib must ensure the present Government will be more effective in pursuing the agenda of realizing the Vision 2020 and economy to continue growing at the faster rate compared to before. If the present Cabinet with bigger representative form Sabah and Sarawak can deliver the election promises effectively, I am sure the BN will triumph in the PR14. People don't like to see corruption, misuse of power or excessive spending or Ministers showing their excessive wealth or cronies getting rich through political connection. If Najib can eliminate these negative perceptions from the mind of the electorates, I am sure BN will improve its position in the next election. All Ministers must stop behaving like a warlord at their Ministry but collectively contribute to a nation building with a country free from corruption, abuse of powers, and mismanagement of public assets or excessive expenditure.

Good luck to you Najib and please move forward strategically and just forget the threats from the oppositions who will continue to discredit your victory.

    iklas,
    Rahim

Sekiranya 90% orang cina mengundi Pakatan, maka jumlah sekitar 2 juta.

Well said and I am in agreement to most of your comment above. However, as much as Najib had wanted to get MCA and Gerakan in the cabinet it was their gentleman decision not to to accept any positions at federal and state level in meeting their promises prior PRU 13.Let them recollect broken pieces and pull together again after such a dismal result.

2.BN has won and must BEHAVE LIKE A WINNER and must be more proactive and stand tall and not defensive.Anwar/PR is a looser and must act like a loser and accept majority decision in electing a BN government for the next five years.Hopefully, god willing we see each other again in PRU 14.As for BN should savour its deserved victory and move forward.

Taken from outsyed the box :

    The Very Chinese "Popular Vote"
I have previously Blogged that the Pakatan has actually lost the majority vote in NINE States.

Please see : PAKATAN RAKYAT LOST POPULAR VOTE IN 9 STATES, LABUAN & PUTRAJAYA

The Pakatan only won the popular vote in four states ie Penang, Perak, Selangor and Kelantan.

THE PAKATAN LOST THE POPULAR VOTE IN NINE STATES NAMELY :
    PERLIS
    KEDAH
    NEGERI SEMBILAN
    MELAKA
    JOHOR
    PAHANG
    TERENGGANU
    SABAH
    SARAWAK
    WP LABUAN & PUTRAJAYA

Blogger Din Turtle has done further analysis and has come out with something quite startling. Din Turtle has compiled the rankings of the Top 20 Highest Majority Parliamentary seats in the recent elections. You can see the table below. Din has discovered that :
19 of the Top 20 highest majority seats were won by the Pakatan
the DAP won 15 of these 19 Pakatan seats

17 of these 20 highest majority seats are in Chinese majority areas
11 of these 20 highest majority seats have more than 70% Chinese voters

PAS has only ONE of these highest majority seats

The biggest winner in the Pakatan is the Chinese dominated DAP
Very very obviously this is NOT the popular vote at all. How can the single block voting behaviour of the Chinese who make up only 23% of the population be regarded as representing the popular vote of the country?

And 17 of the Top 20 highest majority Parliamentary seats are in Chinese majority areas, including 11 of them that have over 70% Chinese voters. The popular vote won by the Pakatan is clearly very Chinese.

    Sarawak BN menang-
sebab King Taib yang hebat yang bergaji RM 13900 sebulan.

    Sabah BN menang-
sebab miskin, kurang maklumat dan tahap pendidikan rendah.

    Johor BN banyak hilang majoriti-
Sebab cina swing dan ramai melayu tertanya-tanya, Buruk sangat ker PR? BN dah buat sehabis baik ke kat Johor? Adam dan hawa kat Syurga pun tercampak ke bumi kerana ingin tahu seorang manusia..

    Melaka
Kekalahan Ali Rustam mungkin kerana 'takabur'. Dia sendiri mengatakan PAS bermimpi siang hari kalau nak menang Masjid Tanah. Akhirnya dia sendiri kalah. Tapi dia menang MB paling rajin bekerja.

BN semakin Positif. Cuma perantau memang memenangkan PAS.

Macamana lah orang Melayu nak maju jika mereka setakat pandai merungut, mengutuk ataupun cakap guna kepala lutut sahaja - tak kira lah yang sokong Umno mahupun PAS, pemerintah mahupun pembangkang

semuanya amat kurang cerdik macam Pak Kaduk tergadai kampung.

    Salam Dato,

Allow me to digress a little from the topic.I wish to respond and to correct Langitbiru analysis on the Malay voting preferrance for PRU 13 as follows:

1.In the first place, it was indeed a CHINESE TSUNAMI and there is no two way about it and not a Malaysian Tsunami as you suggest. How do you explain Sabah,Sarawak, Johor and many other peninsular states.Face the facts that the chinese are out to oust BN by voting DAP/PR as the figures below shows.

Recent analysis of the PRU 13 shows that on the overall a 10.8 % Chinese, 43.2% Indians and 63.3% Malays have voted for BN in the Peninsular Malaysia (Malaya). On this basis it means :

    a) Only 36.7% Malays voted for PR.

    b) 89.2% Chinese vote for PR especially DAP. MCA suffered worst defeat in history,a CHINESE TSUNAMI surely.

(Ref:DAH IKHWAN Weblog- PRU 13 Analysis Undi dan Kerusi Mengikut Kaum )

Fakta dan analisa begini sangat baik dan objectif, terima kasih.

  48. It was a good review by Daim. Concise and to the points. BN has a lot to learn from the old hand. i am in agreement that the BN should start the machineries to go to the ground and start delivering the promises for a better government. Where to start? Obviously the 133 constituencies. But it shouldnt end there..next go to the remaining 89 constituencies only after BN change their reps there.

The reconciliation needed now would be the reconciliation between the winning party ie BN ( i am limiting the usage of capital letter to respect the request for 'adab' as opposed to 'biadap' when posting comments) with the industry and commerce leaders.

It would be naive to assume a separation of politic with commerce. Too many malay commerce leaders and captains have been villainised where infact their contributionand active participation would be to a more balanced growth of the national economic share in order to preserve inter-racial harmony.

Talking about harmony, there were disturbing Wesak Day message issued by by LGE. Apparrently even celebration or festive greeting is not spared by DAP to spread disunity. Two messages were issued one for Penangite and another for nationwide. The common factor is only both spread hatred and both lack calling for harmony ( words such as oppress, practicing apartheid, harsh military rule, new age of darkness tied in with celebrate Wesak with full compassion..huh?) . But then again what more can we expected from group who believe nepotism is good in politic as long as it only applies to them. That's double standard. ditto

I 'll vote PR to rule the moment they agree nepotism is NOT ACCEPTABLE. So would the rakyat in the 133 constituencies, i think.

Maybe not enough talent available in PR to UBAH the NEPOTISM, going by Din Melaka's kind of comments. Jangan marah yer Din, i ramai kawan orang Melaka but you are an exception..you ada class lah.

To end in a lighter note lah, am adding the lah at the end to strike a chord to communicate lah using the common language that PR is using lah..eg ini kali lah or lain kali lah. My apology to DAKJ lah since he doesnt favour mixing up the two languages in one sentence.

I also hope i am also forgiven for the typo here and there in this comment ..anyway not much damage done due to typo in my comment/ posting here. Unlike the typo as commented by LGE on Penang Third Bridge cost. That comment on typo cost PR to lost in 133 constituencies and thus can't take Putrajaya

To sum up, there are 4 basic for PR get to Putrajaya
    1) UBAH your NEPOTISM
    2) stop double standard
    3) learn the national language.. no lah lah here and there
    4) learn to count. Use excel pls. Facebook and tweeter dont have calculator function

    Thanks DAKJ

Kita tengok siap yg kena nanti. Kalau Dato’ perasan, sebenarnya, sekarang pun dah bermula dah.

Akhir kata, pada firasat sayalah, kemungkinan besar berjaya nanti. Kalau tak berjaya selepas PRU 14, barulah kita kata para penasihat terkhilaf. Barulah adil kepada semua.Itulah pandangan saya sebagai orang kampong je (OKJ). Pandangan pun pandangan kampong. Sekian TQ.

Langitbiru tak nak menyibuk sangatlah dalaman BN ni.

Satu lagi, memang betuilah Najib buat kempen ala-presedential elections. Langitbiru fikir, kalau tak buat gitu, lagi teruk lah UMNO kalah!!!

Tu sebab, Mahathir kata kepimpinan UMNO lani TIADA ALTERNATIF kecuali Najib.

KALAU gitulah keadaannya, bolehlah langitbiru simpulkan,

Nazri Aziz kata nak tukar nama BN. Dah tak popular katanya. La ni dok sibuk pula dah nak "bungkus" UMNO jadi satu parti, Parti BN ka?

    Ni main-main atau serius ni?

Langitbiru dok dok fikir lah, nama parti, logo, dan bendera tu TAK LEBIH IBARAT jersi bola saja. KALAU pasukan bola Malaysia tukar jersi sekalipun, tapi KUALITI DAN MENTALITI tuan punya badan dok takat tu juga, hasilnya tak kemana pun.

    NAMA apa Dato? BN Baru?

    Kampongman,

    Your comment,

Recent analysis of the PRU 13 shows that on the overall a 10.8 % Chinese, 43.2% Indians and 63.3% Malays have voted for BN in the Peninsular Malaysia (Malaya).

    My Comment,

Can you tell me how did you derived these numbers. Is this based on “assumption” or an “official numbers” from EC. The outcome of the polls are confidential.

Pengundi berdaftar cina 29.8%, Jumlah 3.26 juta.

Andaian (Assumption), 85% pengundi cina mengundi PR,

Maka, jumlah pengundi cina 2.77juta.

    Sekian Terima Kasih.

    Salam Dato',

Allow me to correct a reader's comment on his concern about the reduction in car prices todate.

The PM DS Najib reiterated yesterday the government's promise to reduce car prices in stages until 2017 ie over five years. The BN had pledged to review the NAP to reduce the prices of car in stages between 20 and 30 per cent.In fact prices of 10 models have been reduced to an average 7.3 % since Oct last year.

It is important that any price reduction be done strategically and in an orderly manner as not to disrupt the local automative player and the industry.

Just need to correct an error in my earlier comment.

    Comment to Kampung Man,

Can you tell me how did you derived these numbers. Is this based on “assumption” or an “official numbers” from EC. The outcome of the polls are confidential.

The voters identity and votes are confidential not the outcome of the polls. My mistake.

There are people in this blog said that what uttered by Daim is correct and accurate.

Daim said that there are nepotisme in Pakatan Rakyat.

By definition, Nepotism is "The practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends,"

So, there are no Nepotism practiced in UMNO?

His statement is political in nature, he is not being truthful.

We cannot expect politician to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. Politician twist matters for their benefit and interests. We need to evaluate ourselves what is right and wrong.

    Dato Kasir.

Tan Sri Halim baru sahaja mengemukakan samannya berbillion ringgit ka atas Tun Mahathir,Noor Yaakup dan khazanan kerana mereka menipu dia.Noor Yaakop berjanji untok membeyar kapada Halim sabanyak 1.6 billion ringgit,Yang di bayar kapada Halim hanya lah $165 juta Rashid Manaf, saorang Peguam terkenal menjadi saksinya.

Tun Daim memang benar terpaksa menjaul banknya UMBC kapada Multi purpose semasa ia menerima jawatan Menteri Kewangan.
Isteri Tun Daim menguasai Alliance Bank.Akhbar khan, kawan Tun menguasai Bandar Raya development.

    Pembahas Dr Kasim Othman,

    1. Berkenaan Halim Saad, saya sudah banyak menulis. Dalam kolum Other Thots, New Sunday Times pada tahun 2000, saya pernah tulis bahawa tindakan mengambil alih aset Renong/UEM adalah tidak adil dan tergesa-gesa.

    Terima kasih.

Sangat setuju dgn poin no 6 dan 7 Dakj.

Bukan banyak pun.

Tapi dgn Melayu pimpinan UMNO lanyak sampai lumat.

Orang macam Halim Saad dan billionaire Melayu lain masa tu lebih layak digelar billionaire buih.

Mereka menjadi org kaya segera berdasarkan corporate manuvere yg diasaskan pd pemberian projek yg entah dimana, entah bila siap serta penerbitan saham2 baru dan pinjaman bank 100% bagi membiayai penerbitan saham baru. Bila harga saham lingkup mereka tak de duit nak top upmargin call. Akhirnya daripada status billionaire jadi negatif aire.

Bandingkan Melayu2 tu dgn billionaire Cina yg hidup juga dgn hutang tapi tak sampai peringkat pinjam bank 120% bila buat corporate manuvere.

Pd tahun 90an dulu oleh kerana kerugian pelabur berikutan kuncupan market capitalisation KLSE mencecah 600b maka MAHADHIR PUN DAH TERKAPAI2 TAK DAPEK NAK MENOLONG HATTA KRONI SEKALI PUN.

    Salam Zack82,

2.Blog Outsyed the box bertarikh May 29, semalam bertajuk " 35% or less of Malays Voted For Pakatan" menggunakan Statistical Analysis di ambil dari Sdra Oik65's blog. Oik's conclusion is that it is a fallacy that majority Malays voted for Pakatan.Tak bersetuju tidak apa.Kajilah.

    Muhyidin sedikit lega.

Strategi Mahathir terhadap NAJIB ATAU MUHYIDIN MESTILAH ATAS DASAR MELEMAHKAN MEREKA BERDUA DISAMPING MENGUATKAN KEDUDUKAN ANAKNYA SENDIRI.

PEMILIHAN PIMPINAN TERTINGGI UMNO AKAN MENJADIKAN 150,000 BUKAN 2300 PERWAKILAN TIBA2 SANGAT BERKUASA.

LOGIKNYA BIAYA YG DIPERLU NAK PENUHKAN TEMBOLOK 150000 ORANG TENTULAH LEBIH BESAR LAGI.

APAKAH JAWATAN KUASA PEMILIHAN NANTI TIBA2 BOLEH JADI BAIK MACAM MALAIKAT DALAM MENGENDALIKAN URUSAN PEMILIHAN, SAMA2LAH KITA RAKYAT SAKSIKAN.

HARAP2 TAK DE LAMPU PADAM, KOMPUTER JAM ATAU SEBAGAINYA. INGAT DALAM UNDANG2 RIMBA YG DIGUNA PAKAI UMNO SEJAK ZAMAN UMNO BARU MAHATHIR, PIHAK KALAH CARA ADIL ATAU TIDAK AKAN SECARA OTOMATIK DIBUANG DRPD UMNO KALAU BAWA KES KE MAHKAMAH.

TAK KAN MAHADHIR NAK JADI BODOH BUAT BENDA YG MENYEBABKAN SENJATA MAKAN TUAN.

PILIHAN YG PALING BIJAK ADALAH MAHATHIR MESTI SOKONG NAJIB.

INGAT NAJIB MUNGKIN HANYA PONDAN DI HADAPAN KAK.....

NAK TENGUK SANGAT NASIB ANAK YASIN SELEPAS BERMATI2AN TUNJUK JAGUH DALAM KUTUK PAS DAN ANWAR SELAMA INI.

Strategi yg tak mengena adalah kepunyaan Khir Toyo.

    Dah jatuh ditimpa tangga.

Kalau dulu dia jaga diri baik2 selaku menteri besar Selangor paling muda taklah Selangir terlepas ke PR.

Dahlah beri tanah bekas tapak racing batu tiga pd kroni, buat pulak unisel yg merugikan kerajaan negwri dgn kos yg terlalu mahal hinggalah beri penyapu pd pegawai tinggi kerajaan.

Mujurlah berlaku pd kerajaan UBN, semua pihak buat2 tak tau. Kalaulah Khalid Ibrahim buat begitu dah lama kena belasah dgn pencacai UMNO.

AGAKnya gara2 kesilapan MB UMNO menyebabkan Sultan Selangor tiba2 kelihatan PERIHATIN DGN PENTADBIRAN NEGERI DIBAWAH PR.

Kesian Khir Toyo.

    Sallam Kampong Man,

    Terima Kasih.
