Phew! Trump Is Not Coming

A Kadir Jasin

US PRESIDENT, Donald J. Trump, is making a maiden trip to Asia beginning tomorrow but will give Malaysia a miss. He is visiting Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Mr President and the (real) First lady
During the Oct 3 to 14-trip Trump is scheduled to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Vietnam and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) conclave in the Philippines.

[REMINDER. Anonymous comments will not be published.]

I don’t see it as an insult or a snub that Trump and his beautiful First Lady Melania (that’s her official state title) is skipping Kuala Lumpur.

He had just met our generous Prime Minister, (Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil) Mohd Najib Abdul Razak, in the White House last month. But he could still be meeting Najib at the two summits.

With his maiden pow-wow with the Malaysian leader not being well received by the US media and public, Trump could not risk another one-to-one meeting.

A former senior US Administration official, Paul Wolfowitz, writing in the Newsweek magazine, had called the Prime Minister “Malaysian Crook Najib” and Trump meeting him as “reeks of the swamp”.

It has to be the mother of all insults and if Najib’s fanatical followers like Jamal Md Yunos, Mohd Puad Zarkashi, Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Salleh Said Keruak, Annuar Musa and Ahmad Maslan understand the depth of the disrespect, they would either have put a price on his head or sue him for every penny he has.

Welcoming home a "statesman" and looking the other way
It could have also escaped my attention but I’m yet to hear the genius Ahmad Maslan (CGPA 3.85) writing a damning letter to the editor of Newsweek or the outrageous Jamal carrying a coffin to the US Embassy with the slogan “Death to the Jews”.

Not even Najib’s learned bloggers and Facebook warriors - some of whom are rumoured to be paid millions of ringgit – have posted anything that could be considered an unequivocal defence of their boss.

Maybe they understand what “Malaysian crook” means but are not totally familiar with the phrase “reeks of the swamp”. The Newsweek headline reads: “Trump’s Meeting With Malaysian Crook Najib Reeks of the Swamp”.

I think what the writer had intended to say is, the meeting smells like swamps – in another word unpleasant and offensive.

Personally I thank Trump for not paying a visit to Malaysia Truly Asia because I fear that if he does, Najib may offer yet another stimulus package to prop up the US economy.

Or Trump could have done some reading and a little bit of arithmetic to realise that Najib actually offered nothing new during the White House meeting.

Also he could have just realised that the Malaysian economy is worth only about US$309.8 billion compared to the US GDP of US$19,417 billion.

In making the offer to help strengthen the US economy, Najib might not have known that 20 out of 50 US states have GDP higher than Malaysia.

Actually it pays to be knowledgeable when you are the leader of a country.

Wallahuaklam.

  2. do not be too certain dato.

if the price is right, and through certain lobbyists, Looney Trump and his Air Force One may still touch down at KLIA and a photo shoot be organized in the Bunga Raya Complex.

the cause/attempt can only be considered futile when the Looney is safely back at the White House.

I am almost certain that Najib n gang will be prepared to pay any amount to make this 'miracle' happen.

Terima kasih pasai hang nulih "...Also he could have just realised that the Malaysian economy is worth only about US$309.8 billion compared to the US GDP of US$19,417 billion."

baru nampak duduknya Malaysia banding dgn Amerika, dimana :
    " Gross National Income
    Malaysia : $79.33 billion, Ranking 37th.
    Amerika. : $9.78 trillion, Ranking 1st. (123 kali lebih dari Malaysia). (Angka2 tahun 2014).

Kalu angka2 dari nationmaster.com ni betoi, munkin nampak macam mana katun nya cakap2 MOI.
Namun yg ni bukan isiu pokok, dan dia, aku rasa bukan nak tolong Amerika atau Trump ni sangat,
tapi munkin dia tebawak bawak dgn pahaman dia bahawa "cash is king".
Dia cuba nak pakai "pegangan" dia ni di Amerika pulak.
Mat Tehag kata (lebih korang) dia (yagni MOI) tabog duit tu bukan pasai dia suka pada sesorang tu,
Tapi nak bagi orang tu suka kad dia. Dan memang diMalaya ni dia munkin nampak dia bejaya pengaroh
    ramai orang dgn 'strategi' ni.
    Kita belindunglah dgn Allah S.W.T.
    Aamiiin, dan teruihkan perjuangan.

    Maghap no.

    Sallam Dato’

Walhal, Presiden Dutarte filipina pernah mengatakan Presiden Obama sebagai “Son of a whore” , anak kepada pelacur.

Folks, coming back to this figure of billion. I recently asked a graduate from a local public Uni (considered reputable) to write down the figure of 2.6b. It took her alomost 2 minutes to write it down. And finally, she has put more zeros in it. But if she has problems, think about the many others !

    Datuk,

    1. Both Trump and Najib got the media bashing both in domestic American political culture and internationally.

    2. Reeks of the Swamp in the context of American political culture was so bad in many ways.

For one, Trump is basically still living in the swamp. He is kind of struggling to be Presidential even in the past few weeks before Najib's visit, especially dealing with Puerto Rico, NFL case and many more.

He has not signed any major bills since he became President. He does lots of Executive decisions including the Muslim's ban...so Trump reeks of the swamp.

Meeting Najib made it even worse for Trump. He could have avoided or at least postpone it until his Presidency looks good.

So, Trump made major another major political blunders when Najib paid him a visit.

But, Trump is a good host...a good businessman, so to speak. Thus, it was impolite of him to turn down a guest. A good Muslim will never do that too.

    3. Now, that Trump Presidency already macam "dalam tong taik busuk", bila jumpa Najib di Malaysia "aroma tong taik" itu akan lagi dahysat la bau nya.

So, he will not visit Malaysia because he simply got too much bad publicity...from the reeks of the Malaysian tropical swamp...and, it won't do him no good domestically, regionally and internationally.

    4. The sad things about the whole episode, was when (Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil) Mohd Najib Abdul Razak, was branded as the "Malaysian Crook".

And, yet NO ONE came to his rescue...none.

    5. The "plot" has thicken somewhat...but, there is no reason for Salleh, Rahman, Pandikar to "keep quiet"...Hishamuddin is not even a Deputy PM. The Deputy PM is still Zahid, for heaven's sake. So, "it's still a long way u know...a very long way".

    6. The entire BN machinery...read my lips...the entire BN machinery...including Anifah Aman, the Foreign Minister...and the Government, was in a silent mode when our PM was humiliated.

    7. Though some of us have differences with our PM...not me...I LOVE my PM! like the majority of us folks...yet, I find it not acceptable that no one come to defend him...when he needs it the most!

    8. "Jangan tikam Najib dari belakang"...takut nanti itu "gunting kamu" dalam lipatan berkarat pula.

    9. Be like Tun, and Datuk...do it upfront, "gentlemen"!....

    I am, but a messenger.

    Datuk,

    - To the ordinary Sabahans, Trump or no Trump visiting PM Najib is not the question.

    - To the ordinary Sabahan, RCI Forex or no RCI Forex set up by PM Najib is not the question either.

    - The question is why PM Najib set up RCI on Illegal Immigrant for Sabah, but nothing happen since 2012...months before the 13th General Election.

    - Here is the news:

Silence on RCI unfair to Pairin – PBS

    October 3, 2017, Tuesday

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) assistant information chief Datuk Herbert T Lagadan has called on the federal government to make public its action with regard to the implementation of the recommendations by the Royal Commission of Inquiry on the Presence of Illegal Immigrants in Sabah.

The former Kadamaian assemblyman claimed that the federal government is duty bound to inform the people of Sabah in details which recommendations have been implemented thus far and which recommendations cannot be implemented.

He said the federal government had been silent on the RCI and (this) was very unfair to the chairman of RCI, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan and to the people of Sabah.

“I call upon the federal government to inform the people of Sabah on the action taken by the government to implement the recommendations outlined by the Committee of the Royal Commission of Inquiry.

“It has been three years since the recommendations were submitted to the government by the chairman of RCI, Tan Sri Pairin but we have yet to see its implementation,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He asked why was the federal government keeping silent on the RCI.

“Did the government purposely plan to entice Pairin to take up the chairmanship of RCI to make the RCI a booby-trap to kill Pairin’s political career and popularity?” he asked.

Apparently the time bomb with its silent bullet has exploded and the majority of Sabahans are on the verge of anger and blaming Pairin as well as saying that he is an in-effective leader for Sabahans, Herbert claimed.

He was also of the opinion that Pairin seemed to have lost the respect and dignity among the Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) community.

“Was this outcome what the federal leaders had in fact pre-planned, to kill Pairin’s political strengths and to silence the roaring lion? In other words the ‘Silent Bullet Kills the Roaring Lion’?”

“Did Pairin have the option to reject the chairmanship of the RCI when offered by the federal government? At the time when he was offered the chairmanship of RCI, Pairin had no option to reject it,” he claimed, adding that the opportunity to lead the RCI was a life-time chance to give Sabahans a chance to solve the perennial problems of illegal immigrants in the state.

He opined that to reject the chairmanship meant denying the rights of Sabahans to see a comprehensive solutions to the illegal immigrants problem in Sabah.

“Hence Pairin took the offer of RCI chairmanship enthusiastically with the hope that the federal government was very sincere this time round. In the event that the federal government failed to honour its promises, Pairin had jokingly made a note: ‘I will cross when I come to the bridge’.”

“Will the federal government now begin to implement the RCI recommendations before the 14th general election or are we going to see Pairin crossing the bridge?” asked Herbert.

    - So, any new "wayang kulit" from Pekan this time?

    - We know Pairin is an exact replica of PM Najib...one is a fake Hogoun Siou (the so-called Paramount Leader) of the KadazanDusunMurut community, whilst the other one is the the Hogoun Siou of the Bugis people by the tile of (Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil).

    - BOTH ARE HOGOUAN SIAL!

    - It IS an insult, Datuk...double insults, if you will.

    - Mr.Trump shouldn't behave like that to his Asian friend at Putrajaya...that guy is looking for a friend at all cost...it's not nice, u know, Mr.Trump...we are nice people afterall...shall we say Truly Asia, as advertised, know what I mean...unless someone tell me we are less Asian than the Truly Asian?...or, are we that Asian the Americans think of us, the reeks of the Swamp?

I am sure that ONE is, but not all...

    - Datuk, what is your obsession with the First Lady Melania by stating "that’s her official state title"?

I thought everyone knows that by now...unless, Datuk is not a Truly Asian journalist?

She IS the First Lady Melania...beautiful name...wealthy by all account even before she became the First Lady.

Unless, Datuk is insinuating that there is someone else...somewhere...out there...who is faking her by taking similar title and becomes rich AFTER that?...I mean rich, not wealthy...these two are quite different, I must say.

DAMN Mother F*****!...who could that be?...reeks of the Swamp?

    Enlightened us.

    Comments from Jeyakumar PSM:

PETALING JAYA: Sungai Siput MP Dr Jeyakumar Devaraj has cautioned the opposition that it stands to lose out on Malay rural support in the next general election (GE14) unless it addresses the community’s fears about losing its rights.

The PSM leader said there is anxiety among rural Malays that Pakatan Harapan (PH) would be soft on asserting their economic rights if the opposition pact takes over the federal government.

He said the coalition should give ample focus on dealing with such concerns, instead of putting more weight on issues related to 1MDB and other corruption allegations against the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN).

“Corruption and 1MDB are important issues, but aside from talking about those issues, Pakatan should also address the fears of the rural Malays when it comes to their future.

“Umno has a well-defined support system of incentives and subsidies for the Malay poor, so much so that the party is seen as their protector,” Jeyakumar told FMT.

He added that PH has not done enough to allay misgivings about the support system being taken away if it came to power.

Jeyakumar said it was difficult to counter BN’s allegations against PH.

He also cited Prime Minister Najib Razak telling civil servants earlier this week to imagine their future if the opposition came to power. Some opposition members had previously alleged that the 1.6 million-strong civil service was bloated and should be reduced.

Jeyakumar said many rural and urban poor Malays felt that although Umno might be corrupt, rejecting the party could lead to the incentives and subsidies being lost.

“They are aware that the government is corrupt and things are not quite right.

“But on the issue of affirmative action, people in Pakatan have given an impression that they are for the free market where the market would determine the issues.

“Such fears will help Umno retain rural Malay votes,” he said.

    It looks like good advice.

Though for the Malays to shed the "handout / feudal" mentality is not easy.

    Datuk,

East Malaysia and the Malays are the key to Federal power.

Prominent economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram today said peninsula-based opposition parties’ ignorance of the issues facing Sabah and Sarawak would cost them at the next polls.

Jomo said the opposition parties were not sensitive to the hopes and aspirations of East Malaysians, and this was partly why they still could not work together with political parties in Sabah and Sarawak.

“The opposition is likely going to lose, not because it is weak but because the opposition in the peninsula does not want to unite with the opposition in Sabah and Sarawak,” Jomo said at the launch of a book on Malaysian history by veteran politician Syed Husin Ali today.

“Solving the woes that Sabah and Sarawak are facing is of utmost importance,” he said.

Jomo said the disunity among the opposition will work in favour of Barisan Nasional (BN), adding that this could set back the country’s politics to how it was three decades ago.

“We will likely see BN holding two-thirds majority in Parliament, with the biggest opposition party being the DAP, just as it was back in the 1980s,” he said.

How sad if this comes to pass!
