Bukan Lari Mencari Damai Abadi

MOHON maaf kerana agak lama tidak melayan pelawat. Bukan lari atau sudah berasa benci. Jauh sekali rasa meluat. Cuma mengunjungi sudut, hulu negeri. Di mana tiada kemudahan IT.

Tasik Temenggor...abadikan kedamaiannya.

Maka, marilah kita pastikan Rimba Di Raja Belum kekal selama-lamanya, untuk dihayati bersama sebagai warisan setiap insan.

Terima kasih.

    Hai Datuk Kadir,

Masuk hutan Belum jumpak babi ka?. Babi Belum pun tak damai Abadi kalau manusia yang kata "ku cari damai abadi" dok bagi permit terbang hutan. Babi pun sedang ketakutan pasal manusia yang mencarai damai abadi membiarkan kuncu kuncu nya menebang balak seperti di Sabah.

Even at its state, royal belum has lost its virginity. But who cares. haha.

  4. Ghandiji,

    Berita Dari Gunung,

Lower Belum memang dah tak dara. Tapi tak lah teruk sangat. Baru macam janda berhias. Can still be rehabilitated and regenerated.

Upper Belum is still very much a virgin forest.

I think we should all care. This is our country. We have no motherlands to go back to.

I found many Singapore tourists camping in the forest. Pity them. All that they have is concrete jungle. So we must invite them over.

    Thank you.

glad to learn that you are still an advocate of nature. we read about belum in nst many years ago.

we certainly need more ppl to hold a sacred value to nature, not just in ringgits and sens. just like you, who have just returned from belum.

lower belum used to be our playground - angling for baung, lais, sebarau, toman, lampam, kalui, and kelah. but not in the last 6 or 7 years. in fact, we have not tried the new highway to grik!

indeed, we need more people holding similar values like yours, but when they are still holding positions that matter, not when they have retired. we can see that in many ngos - retired who-is-who holding key positions. but what can they do? in fact, what do they really do?

perhaps it is an after thought - a revert; a born again nature boy.
perhaps it is an effort to tell the world that they are still around.
perhaps it is a juggling act to warn some parties.

i dunno. it beats me, for most of these ngos are usually acting like a dog barking a tree. nothing happens.

so, as mentioned earlier, we need ppl to be concerned while they are holding positions that matter.

but as proven over time in this country, too many of those holding positions that matter, give any hoot to what you are now saying.

a downer perhaps, but it is a sad fact. a pathetic reality. we need a new strategy to address this.

    peace.

  6. Sdr Wong Soga,

Thank you for the thoughts. Yes, the NST and TV3 then did a lot to create awareness about Belum.

The NST made use of its Enviromental Education to promote the preservation and conservation of Belum. And I was able to "use" TV3 because I was then on its board of directors.

We worked very closely with then Perak MB, Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib. He made the initial commitment to turn Belum into a state park.

All is not lost. Since then the Tuanku Sultan of Perak Raja Azlan Shah had taken great interest in Belum, hence the title Royal Belum. But in itself, Belum is royal. It's the last patch of wilderness in our country.

I was invited, together with Sdr Datuk Ahmad A Talib, to go there because of our earlier involvement via the NST and TV3 in creating awareness about Belum.

There's now a plan to redevelop Pulau Banding and use it as the staging point for recreational and scientific exploration of the greater Temenggor area.

And you said; "i dunno. it beats me, for most of these ngos are usually acting like a dog barking a tree. nothing happens."

Not quite. Many of the NGOs that were with us in Banding like the MNS and WWf and concerned individuals made a lot of sense. They were not asking for the impossible.

For me, it's better the dog that barks than one that sleeps. A barking dog may not bite but its drives away the thives. But a sleeping dog drives away nothing. Instead it may get bitten or even eaten.

The Perak State Secretary. Datuk Abdul Rahman came to receive our report and held a brief discussion with us.

Let Belum be forever a heritage for mankind.

    Thank you.
