IF our life is all about ipomoea aquatica, we can all
look forward to a significant improvement in our welfare and well-being.
Since we last discussed ipomoea aquatica aka the
humble kangkung in the Jan. 16 posting, its price has fallen further. (Read here)
The index shows that the price of kangkung had fallen by
4.2% during th Jan-Feb period.
Since early 2013, the price of kangkung in Kuala Lumpur fell
from RM5 a kilo to RM2.40 or a decline of 52%.
Unfortunately, the reduction in kangkung price will not
improve our quality of life significantly because it accounts for only a tiny
fraction of our consumption and, therefore, the consumer price index (CPI).
Life will be better only if costs associated with housing,
transportation, healthcare and food also decline. These are the major cost
elements in the CPI.
Please be wise, thoughtful and measured when discussing kangkung as the subject could offend some people's sense and sensibility.
Apa pun Datuk kangkung is cool! Datuk kata semakin murah ... apa yang saya dapat dari favourite warung Yong Tau Foo semakin kecil ikatannya ... so how?
ReplyDeleteadoi...cerita kangkung lagi.
ReplyDeleteSudah la Najib kangkung kan rakyat dan si anwar pula tak mahu kalah, kangkungkan pengundi selangor.
Tukar subject yang lebih current
lah Dato

ReplyDelete1. Saya berpendapat tulisan Dakj terdahulu yg menyentuh betapa kangkungnya ketua2 UMNO dan pencacai mereka telah pun melepasi matlamat dgn jayanya.
2. Dulu kita dah biasa dengar perkataan professor kangkung yg terdiri daripada mereka yg biasa2 di bidang mereka tapi jadi naib cancelor dan professor asal lebih UMNO drpd ahli UMNO.
Bukankah mahkamah mesti bukan saja adil tapi dilihat adil?
Kalau org lain nak cari no 1, bagi kita no corot itulah yg kita cari. Tak ke kangkung betul.
Jangan heran.
TERBARU........Kalau dulu LEMBAGA HASIL DAN JABATAN PENILAIAN HARTA MENGAMBIL MASA 30 HARI PROSES PENGIRAAN DUTI SETEM DALAM URUSAN JUAL BELI PROPERTI.
SEKARANG JANGKAMASA BERKENAAN DAH DIPERCEPAT KEPADA TAK LEBIH 14 HARI.
ITU CONTOH BUKAN KANGKUNG.
Tapi relaks.
YA ALLAH , TOLONG SELAMATKAN NEGARA KAMI DRPD MASAALAH KEWANGAN YG BERTERUSAN. AMIN
Datuk AKJ,
tq tok.. mengamik masa masa silam orang melayu..

In other words, our goverment nowadays likes to do uneccessary things rather than neccessary things in which equivalent to the word 'stupid'!
Salam Datuk, Kangkung punya hal boleh kena 'genjatan senjata' pasai had lain tak 'turun' hanya dia saja turun. :)
ReplyDeletePercutian Tanah Tinggi
(Cerita Mini 100 Kata)
Angin dari China memanjat Titiwangsa. Dinginnya tersebar ke penghujung nusa. Pantai Timur mencecah lapan belas darjah.
“Baik berjimat. Selain kangkung, semua naik harga sekarang ini,” balas Ismail sambil tersengih.
“Bammm!!!” Pintu kamar dihempas.

-memang betui, isu kangkung sensitif kpd sesetengah orang.
ReplyDeleteSalam hormat, DAKJ,
Lenggang lenggang kangkung,
kangkung di tepit sawah
nasib tak beruntong,
ada menteri tak perapa kisah
Lenggang lenggang kangkung,
kangkung di tepi perigi
Nasib tak beruntung
ada blogger takda modal lagi
Lenggang, lenggang,
lenggang ala lenggang angkung.
Dato’
ReplyDeleteIf I am not mistaken, our PM graduated from UK majoring Economics.
In my personal opinion, I think his statement about “kangkong” was meant for the audience in Kemaman Terengganu. They are mostly kampong folks.
Had the forum be in the city, KL, PJ or Penang, he would had used CPI or other indices, not “kangkong”.
It certainly not meant to be watched in youtube.
Some kampong folks probably can relate that since “kangkong” price can go down, then other price can go up, such as the price of chicken, fish, sugar, houses, electricity, toll, assessment, GST and others.
That is why UMNO had been quite successful in mostly Kampong areas.
Probably, UMNO leaders thinks that kampong folks are bunch of fools.
Since kampong folks are mostly Malay, UMNO, a party that claimed to champion the Malays should enlighten not disillusion them.
Salam DAKJ
Orang-orang kampong pun tahu pelbagai faktor (multifactorial) yg mempengaruhi pasaran. Kita ambil contoh komoditi getah. Kalau permintaan tinggi harga akan naiklah. Dulu semasa Atuk H.N. Ridley, harga getah naik. Semua org nak tanam getah.
Hahahahahaha.......From Teresa Kok with Love

"Roses are red
Violets are blue
When flowers are too pricey
Kangkung will do
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sugar is sweet
It may give you diabetes too
Roses are red
Violets are blue
In case you missed it
This is a satire, too"
Hahahahaha!
Dato,
ReplyDeleteI think this kangkung story is over and stale. For a kangkung to be a main issue in your article and has an index is ridiculous.
I wait for better articles from you.Tq
Dato.
Ijazah segara macam kangkong.
Orang politik lagilah banyak pemegang ijazah kangkong.
Sebab itu mereka tidak ada keyakinan diri.Rakyat lebih bijak dari mereka.
Setiap saat rakyat gelisah.
Terima kasih Dato.
ReplyDeleteSalam Dato,
ReplyDelete1.I am impressed and happy to note from this morning NST that the UK Economist magazine has used The BIG MAC Index to gauge the price of this Mc Donald burger (not that bugger!!) worldwide for global currencies as an acceptable basis.Malaysia has been ranked THIRD behind India and Africa .
2.If the Big Mac Index is of any indicator, it reflects well on the price of food items in Malaysia are not that really bad as potrayed in compararison with other countries around the world and the region.Look, a Big Mac would cost RM7.40 (USD 2.23) against that in the US at USD 4.62 (an equivalent to RM7.40) a cool 50% cheaper here in Malaysia using the global exchange rate.Anyone knows of prices of same in the region ?.Kindly share.
3.Surely Kangkung Price Index (KPI) is not a good indicator and a good example. Only those who are BENGKAK with Najib and the kerajaan yang memerintah sekarang(looes74 and Din Melaka can take note) will find allreasons to fault him. Logical mind cannot accept this KPI as basis.Agree?. Kita cuba LAIN KALI LAH!.
Lets focus on economic deveopment especially for the rural areas.
4.RD, my brotherly advise to you is to just ignore those nyamoks who are essentially RBAs to ruin harmony, peace and teanquality in Malaysia. They too promote racial and religious hatred and even suggest East and West Malaysian separation.Again sheer madness.Anyway...
5.Kindly note too that our GDP 4.7% last year exceeds forcast of 4.5% due to 5.1% economic growth over fourth quater performance last year as reported. We are doing not too bad despite world economic slow down actually.
5.On the healtcare side Malaysians are heavily subsidised and among the cheapest and has the best medical and hospital facilities in the world. My two time cancer survivor wife paid less than RM100.00 for treatments of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and supplies of medicines for her whole life (She used to be a government servent).
I am proud to be Malaysians.Thank you Dato.
Datuk AKJ,
ReplyDelete1. Saya suka menjenguk blog Datuk kerana hadirnya penjenguk yang tidak seragam keyakinan politik mereka.
next change...menteri besar kangkong...siapa ? berapa pula indek harga turun ?
ReplyDeletekangkong bukan Najib saje... sebelah pembangkang lagi banyak kangkong mengangkong ! Cakap berdegar-degar, hakikat nya semua kangkong cina !
Maaf Dato,
ReplyDelete1.Pembetulan sikit. USD4.32 (Equivalent to RM15.32 and not RM7.40).pardon sir.
2.Kampong malays cannot be that foolish as some may suggest.Even urban educated and well informed Malays too are behind UMNO and BN. The fact remains that more than 63% Malays are behind UMNO/BN.Had there be NO 'Tsunami Cina 'BN will secure 2/3 majority.
3.The opposition cannot shout or hang on to the popular or majority votes unless SPR change the rules to fit them.It is like changing the goal posts in the middle of a football game (My MU lost many games and looks likely that they cannot become champion of EPL this season, i can accept).Theresa Kok won BIG in excess of 50K votes but she still cannot be our PM and even MB for Selangor. Why?.May be looes74 can clarify and enlighten us. It is because the rules has been set by SPR right all these years .Simple.Can we respect that and move on.
Sssshhh....BN especially UMNO are aggressively getting many new voters especially the young for the next PRU .So be warned.
4.With Sarawak and Sabah hold strongly firm under BN they remains 'Fix Deposits'.Poor looes74 cannot continue clowning like Mr Bean anymore.Maaf ya.
Thank you Dato
Aslkum Dakj
ReplyDeleteSebenarnya ramai org kuat UMNO sendiri malu besar bila ketua no 1 mereka dikangkungkan gara2 samada bodoh atau suka perlekeh rakyat.
Lagi pun ayat Quran sendiri sering mengulang2 petkara penting.
DAKJ,
Hi Datuk
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree with Kampong man and with Mustapha Ong.The PM is doing a real fine job balancing inflation and growth. The 3 economists can shout all they want but the PM got a crack team in place. And I think people don't give enough credit to Omar Ong - the guy is one really smart dude if you had a chance to meet up with him. so perhaps those economists could try to meet up with the PM's advisors first before jumping to conclusions. Dato Seri Najib has been a breath of fresh air after the years of abuse under previous PM, lets support him.
