A Melodic Journey Continues
“Rose Rose I Love You” sang the late Datuk Zainal Alam of the Radio Malaya Pulau Pinang fame. [Listen here].
According to Wikipedia, it is the “English title of the 1940 Chinese popular song "Méigui méigui wǒ ài nǐ" (玫瑰玫瑰我愛你). [Listen here].
“Sekuntum Mawar Merah Sebuah Puisi” said Alleycats, who are also hailed from Tanjung. [Listen here].
As poet Alfred Lord Tennyson said “..‘T is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”
So let us continue this journey down the memory lane.
There’s nothing wrong or shameful in being nostalgic and sentimental.
We too want to be in love – with our beloved Malaysia.
Songs and poems help us remember from where we came. Only by knowing where came from will we know where we are now and where we are heading.
For those in need of a dose of “gumbira” – happiness, maybe this song by the Zaharah Agus will help. [Listen here].
Enjoy and think!
