PARDON me for this lengthy article but I feel that it is
necessary to refresh our memory of the two major recessions that we had gone
through in 1986 and 1997-98 respectively. It may also be helpful to students of
economic, finance and politics.

Although these crises were caused by different factors, the
swift and decisive handling by the government had limited their effects on the
country and its people.
The 1986 crisis was caused by the collapsed of commodities
prices all at the same time. This is the curse of dependency on commodities.
Demand and hence prices could fall suddenly, resulting in crisis.
On the other hand the 1997/98 recession was financial in nature. It was
triggered mainly by the private sector borrowing heavily in the US dollars. When speculators attacked Asian currencies, many private sector companies became insolvent.
Many such corporations in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and
South Korea did not have enough money to pay their debts when
the exchange rate of domestic currencies tumbled. When governments went into the market defend their currencies, they lost the money. In the case of Thailand, almost all its
currency reserves were lost. Most of them ended up being rescued by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In the first major recession, the government was aware of
the problems faced by the people due to the collapse of commodities and took
care of rubber tappers, smallholders and those working in the palm oil
plantations. It took care of petty traders too. But more importantly it showed that
the government was serious about helping those facing problems.
The Cabinet took a pay cut. Ministers’ allowances were also
reduced. It was to show to the rakyat that ministers too were willing to
sacrifice at the time when the people were facing a difficult time. The rakyat
appreciated the gesture and they felt that the government was serious in trying
to overcome the crisis.
It was this trust that made it easier for the
government to implement its recovery plan. The Prime Minister then was Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and
Finance Minister was Tun Daim Zainuddin.
The government reduced development expenditure to match
revenue and made it clear that from that point onward we would live within our
means. This was an opportunity for the government to restructure the economy.
The civil service was bloated and revenue was used mainly to
pay civil servants. The government froze new recruitment and, in the future,
new employees would not get pension directly from the treasury. Instead, a
pension fund would be established.
To reduce the number of civil servants and save government
spending privatization was sped up. Tens of thousands opted to become employees
of the privatized companies, generally with better salaries. The government
saved on salaries and was no longer responsible for their operating and capital
expenditures (opex and capex). This
saved the government a lot of money.
The government decided that the country must not rely
entirely on commodities and must shift to manufacturing and services. Laws were
amended or relaxed to make it more attractive for foreign investors. The policy
was so successful that it created jobs not only for Malaysians but also for
foreigners.
The government then focused its attention to rebuilding and
strengthening the financial sector. It cleaned up banks, insurance companies
and deposit taking co-operatives. The number of financial institutions was
reduced through mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to created larger companies
that could better withstand future shocks.
The government’s clear direction and forceful implementation
helped to restore the economy and boosted the confidence of the people. It was
so successful that growth rate, measured by the Gross Domestic Product (DGP),
was consistently above eight percent and this added to the income of the
people.
In the case of the 1997/98 crises, the situation was different
- there was no recession in the world economy and, as such, our exports
continued to do well and brought in a lot of money for the country.
lt was the private sector that faced problems and our banks
were badly affected and had to be
saved. The government formed Danamodal and Danaharta. The first was to save the
banks and the second to buy up assets of troubled companies. The government
also helped companies facing trouble.
To halt speculation against the ringgit, the government
introduced what we called limited currency control, which was condemned by
almost whole world. The exchanged rate of the ringgit was fixed at RM3.80
to a US dollar and the movement of capital in and out of the country was
monitor. It created certainty for the business people.
The success in overcoming both crises was largely because
people trusted the government. They were confident that the government knew
what it took to save the country. They did not suffer too badly and only for a
short time. The proof of their support was the Barisan Nasional won with
two-third majority in both general elections held after the crises.
The Present Crisis
What immediately comes to mind is the question, what is government doing about it? Whatever the government is doing, the rakyat don’t feel that their
hardship is being eased.
Instead, subsidies were reduced or abolished in order to make government finances look good. If that isn't bad enough for the people, rates
and charges were raised and, to top it all, the goods and services tax (GST) was introduced.
Some ministers and deputy ministers thought that all the rakyat are uninformed and went on to make stupid statements that GST would reduce prices of goods and
services.
This is the problem when the Prime Minister is also the Minister of
Finance. Many in the Cabinet disagreed with the Finance Minister but had to
agree and support the Prime Minister.
For sure the government is not honest with the people. Ministers, senior
government civil servants and editors spin everything in the
hope of fooling the people so much so that they sound like idiots.
Yes prices of commodities had fallen. But that had happened
before, but the government was able to overcome the problem in a relatively
short time. The people did not suffer a prolonged period of suffering.
To make it worse, there is the billion ringgit 1MDB scandal.
Its debts as of the beginning of this year, according to PAC, had risen to RM50
billion. It has caused the government a huge trust deficit.
The government keeps saying that our growth is high and is
better than most countries. No, it is not true. Our GDP growth is declining and
is lower than most developing Asean countries. Even if there is growth, what
good is it if the people do not feel its benefit?
The present government of (Datuk Seri I
Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil) Mohd Najib
Abdul Razak and of Tun
Abdullah Ahmad Badawi before that are obsessed with growth.
To be truthful, the present day so-called economic
architects are pale in comparison to the likes of the late Tun Abdul Razak
Hussein and Tun Tan Siew Sin, Tun Dr Mahathir, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and
Daim.
As leaders, Mohd Najib and Abdullah are clueless about
finance and economy. They relied on outsiders like (Tan Sri) Nor Mohamed
Yackop, (Datuk Seri) Idris Jala and (Datuk Seri) Abdul Wahid Omar.
Not all of these people have good record of economic and
business management yet were given so much power to manage and manipulate the
economy. They were just too happy to deliver growth to their bosses without any
consideration for cost and the long-term effects of their so-called
consolidation and transformation.
They are best known for accumulating debt. Our external debt had increased to RM848.24 billion in the second quarter of 2016 from RM809.09 billion in the first quarter of 2016. This is mind boggling considering that external debt averaged only RM186.05 billion from 1990 to 2016, reaching an all time high of RM852.86 billion in the third quarter of 2015. External debt is reported by Bank Negara.
According to Bank Negara, as at the end on June 2016, total
outstanding debt of the Federal Government amounted to RM655.7 billion or 53.4
per cent of the estimated 2016 GDP.
We can never be sure of the true situation. In recent months
the government had resorted to juggling with the figures to show positive
development. It recently moved about RM22 billion civil servants’ housing
loans to a new statutory agency called the Public Sector Home Financing Board.
The board immediately established an RM25-billion bond programme guaranteed by
the Government. It’s the case of moving the debt from one pocket to another.
During 1986 recession, the government also froze civil servants’ increment. It made sure that everybody sacrificed. You can’t ask rakyat to sacrifice and yet civil servants are treated differently. The rakyat pay all kind of taxes to fund the government’s Opex. But under Mohd Najib, civil servants are given salary increases and special bonuses at the time when rest of the rakyat are suffering a high cost of living.
Civil service
keeps bloating. In fact, under Abdullah and on the recommendation of Nor
Mohamed, new agencies were created with overlapping functions outside the purview
of the Public Services Department (PSD). Unknown to the public, Nor Mohamed was
politically ambitious and had used these agencies to build his political base.
He went on to contest the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary seat for the Barisan
Nasional in the 2008 general election and won. But he was unpopular. He was
rejected by his own division. He was involved in the failed Bank Negara forex
operations in the 1980’s and is deeply involved in the management of 1MDB.
I have mentioned many a time of the fact that our
household debt is among the highest in the world. With growth tapering and
unemployment rising, household debt is becoming less manageable. Many young
Malaysians are today officially bankrupt.
The rakyat are more concerned with the bread and butter issues
than economic statistics. It’s a double whammy when they have to pay GST on goods and services that have gone up in prices due to the GST.
GDP growth alone is not the measure of the state of the
economy and the welfare of the people. There are other factors like fair distribution of wealth and sustainability that
have to be taken into consideration.
If people are suffering and not happy because they can’t afford to pay for their daily needs, what good is the
government’s growth figure?
And what good is the so-called good news that we have
escaped the middle-income trap, when income gap is widening and the number of
poor and indebted households is rising?
The Khazanah Poser
And would the authority be able to deny (or clarify) that
some senior managers at government-owned companies (GLCs) like Khazanah are
rumoured to be earning as much as RM250,000 a month and many are earning RM100,000.
Even a retired university professor is rumoured to earn RM70,000 a month?
And what about children of a wealthy former minister, a private sector company chairman and even an expatriate being given or offered scholarships on the pretext of meritocracy?
No
wonder children of the ordinary rakyat who excelled in International Baccalaureate studies at the Malay College Kuala kangsar and other institutions are unable to get funding despite being offered places by the best universities in the UK.
And no wonder too the people are angry.
Mohd Najib had gone to town asking
for suggestions for his 2017 Budget. Normally budget dialogues are held in June
or July in order to give sufficient time for officials to act on the feedback.
But now he is asking for feedback in September and budget is in October. He
can’t be serious. The most logical proposal is perhaps to ask him to step down
as Finance Minister.
And what madness it is to ask Khazanah to spend RM650
million on a recreational park in Kuala Lumpur?
All these goes to show just how insensitive and wasteful the
government is and how indifferent it is to the suffering of the rakyat.
The government does not have to force Khazanah to be a park
developer and possibly wasting another RM650 million of taxpayers’ money. If it
wants a park for the people, all that it has to do is to gazette Bukit Kiara as
the Cabinet had agreed a long time ago.
Is this the government that listens to people and fulfills
its promises as enshrines in its “Janji Ditepati” election?
Wallahuaklam.

An excellent piece of work...not many can do it...a classic example of journalistic perfection...a six stars rating...of international class.
We need this type of thinker...suatu ibadah Datuk yang paling besar nilai nya...moga2an Datuk selalu dalam keadaan sihat walafiat.
I am humbled, Datuk.
It is not janji ditepati. Tapi janji dicapatikan.
Salam Datuk,
A most interesting case is brewing.
It's PAS vs. Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil.
"Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has failed to settle his libel suit against two top officials of PAS' news organ Harakah.
Najib's lead counsel Mohd Hafarizam Harun said he received a letter from the defendants Thursday evening rejecting his client's proposal to settle the suit.
"The two related appeals will now go for hearing," he said Monday.
Najib sued two defendants over an allegedly defamatory article published on the portal in relation to 1MDB and his stepson Riza Aziz.
Suing in his personal capacity, Najib said the article on Feb 19 last year contained defamatory words against him.
In his suit filed on March 18 last year, Najib said the offending words implied that he had abused his power to obtain wealth from a questionable source.
Najib is seeking an apology, damages and an injunction to prevent the defendants from further discussing or publishing the defamatory article either orally, in print or on the Internet."
When Harakah printed the story last year, it was well before the full details of the songlap emerged via the DOJ suit.
Now, PAS can get overseas evidence from the various countries to prove its case.
Over to our judges.
How will they block or ignore this evidence?
They cannot all be of the 24-hour replacement's "calibre", surely?
Asking rakyat to give ideas 1 or 2 months before national budget is a big joke - A cheap and desperate strategy in order to win people's heart. What happen to all government agencies and machineries? Are they sleeping all these while? A hypocrasy at the highest level.
In 1999, in the midst of the financial crisis, TDM could still waived personal income tax and corporate tax to lessen the burden of the rakyat and the business sector, big and small.
Everybody need not pay tax. The PAYE or pay as you earn tax deduction system was implemented in the following year. That was the foresight that TDM and his Finance Ministry team had.
The salary and wage earners had more disposable income to spend which had a multiplier effect on the economy. Even a nasi lemak or Kuih seller were doing well.
Now under Mappadulung, costs of living and costs of doing business have increased with GST even though oil prices have come down. The GST has an adverse effect on the economy.
With unemployment and layoffs, many malays are becoming nasi lemak or kuih sellers. In some roads you can see 3 or 4 nasi lemak sellers. Many have to wait late into the day to sell off their nasi lemak, earning a margin of probably 30 or 40 sens each while the kuih seller earning a 10 or 20 sen margin.
In the end, "sendiri bikin, sendiri jual, sendiri makan".
Pity them with this kind of Umno govt.
Salam Datuk
One of the roots of the problem is that economic development has ceased to be inclusive as it was in the past. Instead of empowering the rakyat to be the building blocks of our economy, the government made it the job of the select few who sits in big GLCs and their consultants. Even the EPU is rendered useless when Idris Jala and his PEMANDUs came along and introduced superficial transformation projects with unsustainable results. Those who remember his stint at Malaysia Airlines would see clear parallels between the two.
The decision to take away economic planning from the hands of the civil service to the hands of consultants is another moot point. Has the civil service been drained of top intellectuals and administrators that they can no longer be entrusted with our economic planning? On the other hand, has the consultants produced outstanding results so far? Looks can be deceiving. They may be well-bred Datuk's offsprings with their sharp suits, eloquent English and ivy league degrees but do they have understanding of the rakyat's life beyond what they see on their daily commute? The lack of real life experience leads to the lack of empathy. The minds, no matter how great they are, will not produce the right plans without the hearts as their compass. Having said that, my first question remains. Is our civil service in such a bad state? If yes, consultants is a justifiable short term solution.
Datuk,
It is no doubt a big challenge for anyone to step in and fix our problems when (I hope) the current government falls. Our problems do not exist in isolation and can be tackled with only one or two moves. Our problem is systemic. There are weaknesses at every level. From principles to thinking process to choices-made to planning and to execution. It will be a monumental task to make the corrections. It will also take time. We will need strong, single minded, leadership to make it happen.
p/s - If I remember correctly, a year ago the PM pumped RM20 billion into the stock market. Have we seen the desired results?

Agenda Utama Mappadulung HZ adalah:
MENYELAMATKAN DIRI.
Agenda Kedua Mappadulung HZ adalah:
MENYELAMATKAN DIRI.
'The stake is too very big for him to pass'.
Ertikata jika "Agenda Diri" diabaikan..Penjaralah jawapannya.
Kalau dia masuk...isteri pun turut serta....sebab sama2-terpalit.
Inilah yg terjadi pd Marcos.
Hah..AGENDA DIRI YG MENJADI KEUTAMAAN.
Datuk,
If anyone has any doubt that the PM's husband has been very, very bad, for the country, let's quickly review his "performance" over the last 12 months.
a) The legal cases slapped against critical media and political opponents, while others enjoy immunity;
b) The sacking of the former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail to prevent someone being charged;
c) The illegal transfer of MACC officials to the PM’s Department and then the re-transfer;
d) The elevation of the PAC members to the cabinet, delaying PAC investigations;
e) The purge of dissenting Umno members from the party ranks,
f) The jailing of whistle-blowers by abusing security laws like s124 and SOSMA;
g) The removal of Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from his post;
h) The banning of local publications (causing loss of livelihood to innocent journalists), yet not a shred of evidence that the facts published are false;
i) The sabotage, arrests and intimidation of BNM, SB, MACC and AGC personnel to disrupt investigations;
j) The numerous lies that have been floated to the public about the "donation" and 1MDB.
There's also the complete non-delivery and flip-flopping on virtually every promise made in the 2013 BN manifesto. Maybe I will write on this in detail.
Beyond any political affiliation, he must go for the sake of the country.
It's a stain on PDN (Parti Dedak Najib) that all of these things have been ignored by the the remaining PDN leadership.
They cannot let go of their greed.
Sallam Dato’
I think GDP percapita numbers will be more meaningful compared to GDP growth.
An increase of population, such as in our country at an average of 1.5 to 2% will result in the increase of economic activity thus GDP will register a growth.
An increase of foreign nationals or workers (Such as the plan to bring 2 million Bangladeshi) will also result in the growth of GDP as it will spur the economic activities.
However, the increase GDP due to population increase will result in the GDP percapita to remain the same.
Our GDP percapita in still very low compared to Singapore, South Korea, Australia which is about 5 times higher.
During Marcos era, there were rampant corruptions. GDP still registered a growth although the GDP per capita remain the same or even lower. The country remain poor until the fall of Marcos. After the fall of Marcos, with the reforms implemented by the new government, the GDP per capita had risen.
Other indicators that are also important are the GINI coefficient as what debater “Aku” had mentioned in the previous post.
GINI coefficient for Malaysia is 46.3 which are high compared to Thailand 39.3, South Korea 31.3 Australis 34.9, Canada 33.7. This indicates that there are high disparities between income of the rich and poor. The rich are very rich and the poor are very poor.
Based on the statistics, Malays are still the poorest in our country followed by the Indians.
About the high debt amount which is close to RM700 billions, this debt will be carried and burdened not only this generation but most likely generations to come. Future generations have to sacrifice progress as a large chunk of the government budget will have to be put aside for resolving debts.
Therefore I think it is necessary to take into account the future of our generations when we talk about the management of debts in our country as its effects will be long term.
Datuk,
"- The 1986 crisis was caused by the collapsed of commodities prices...
- the 1997/98 recession was financial in nature.
- The Present Crisis...
> subsidies were reduced or abolished in order to make government finances look good...
>> obsessed with growth, what good is it if the people do not feel its benefit?
>>> accumulation of debt...our external debt had increased to RM848.24 billion in the second quarter of 2016, (out of which the) total outstanding debt of the Federal Government (alone) amounted to RM655.7 billion...
>>>> 1MDB scandal...its debts had risen to RM50 billion. It has caused the government a huge trust deficit..."
1. "subsidies were either reduced or abolished"...e.g. the subsidy for Super Tempatan 15% broken rice (ST15) meant for low-income Malaysians was abolished by PM Najib in Nov 2015 (just last year)...since its distribution in 2008*.
Rural majority Malays eating at home have to pay more...whilst urban Malays eating out-of-home have to pay more too as eateries bought the same rice...and, as a matter of fact, all Malaysian and all foreigners have to pay more for a plate of rice...but, it is the majority, the Malay that suffer the most because there are just too many of them in sheer number. In one instant, PM Najib has successfully increase the cost of living in Malaysia..!
I would like to suggest the new Bersatu federal government to RE-INSTITUTE SUBSIDY for this type of rice...cheap rice is a must...it is the most important staple food of this nation!
* http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/government-abolishes-subsidy-for-super-tempatan-rice
2. If the new Bersatu federal government want to reduce/abolish subsidy of any food items, please open up the market without any state monopoly...FREE OPEN MARKET will reduce pricing of food items across the board.
3. Datuk, you are right about growth when you say "what good is it if the people do not feel its benefit?"...
Increase cost of living shrinks our pockets...affecting Malays/Bumiputra more than other groups due to income disparity between ethnic groups...the worst affected groups, irrespective of race, are pensioners, students, fishermen, farmers, penghulus, imams/ustazs, hawkers, small traders and odd-job workers...easily more than 50% of Malaysian...doing more than 2 jobs to make a living...
I urged the new Bersatu federal government must develop inclusive program to help and assist these groups...because the current UMNO government has decapitated these groups into submission and reduced them into "cash handouts" zombies...so much so, that these groups will have difficulties to get out without the "UMNO's Cash is King" crutches.
So, I believe it will take sometime for the new Bersatu government to get these groups back in line...one of the ways is TO LOWER THE COST OF LIVING!
4. We may differ in opinions...but some of the aid programs are good to help the rakyats to get by...so, it's ok to maintain and even enhancing them...as many Malays/bumiputras still very much depending on them.
5. The new Bersatu government must ABOLISH GST!
Datuk.
"As leaders, Mohd Najib and Abdullah are clueless about finance and economy...they are best known for accumulating debt. Our external debt had increased to RM848.24 billion in the second quarter of 2016"
1. Debts are important.
2. Household debts are important to create more jobs as consumers buy houses, cars and services.
But, the worst evil of all evils is debts created by credit cards.
But, nothing is worse than debt created by PTPTN loan...it bankrupts the most important group in our society...the young and the most educated...what else there to say?
3. What about the Federal Government total outstanding debt of amounted to RM655.7 billion or 53.4 per cent of the estimated 2016 GDP...at the end on June 2016"...
Well, THIS IS VERY BAD!...it is not about the ratio...the ratio is just a guide...it means nothing!
If Zahid were to take over as the new PM...he is as good as a dead duck!...might as well this guy...Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil...continue his "sultanate"...
Having say that, it does not mean the new Bersatu federal government can wipe out this debt in creative accounting when presenting their Budget...but, at least it can stop the slide further downhill.
We need to know the breakdown of this RM655.7 billion and make it public...that is something the new Bersatu federal government must do now, so we the rakyat can fully understand. I am sure someone has the number. I want to know the number...you want to know the number...my children and grand children want to know the number...because, they are going to pay long after this...Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil...is dead!
4. Any Federal Government in the world created debts to generate more jobs.
Now, we know the Finance Minister...Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil...has created RMRM655.7 billion...does he know we have 600,000 unemployment to date? Can some ministers crack some jokes?
- How many jobs created by RM50 billion 1MDB debt?
- How many jobs created by this RM650 park? Can Azman of Khazanah come up with some raw figure?
5. I can understand some of us are simply "mandul" and perhaps suffering from some kind of "erectile dysfunction" ("mati pucuk"), hence no children of their own...but, as for me?...anyway, I can understand if you have no worry about the Federal debt, please forgive me...try harder!
Datuk.
Despite your writing...the lies spread by UMNO to the Malays/bumiputras population is unbelievable. Here is just one of them...copy to you verbatim...
UMNO Lies no.1..."Cina paling marah bila najib buat gst..degn gst tak boleh tipu2 lai.. memang semua pringkat rasa penangan gst tapi yang paling terkesan adalah tokay2 besau.. tu pasal cina tak puas hati betul dengan najib...berapa sangat kesan pd melayu kecuali pemborong dan pengedar yg ramainya bangsa cina..la depa susah la sikit nak menipu...lagi pun semua kena declare"
Sebut saja Cina...Melayu akan percaya 100% sebab Melayu benci Cina...Melayu takut sama Cina.
UMNO gunakan perang saraf takutkan orang Melayu...kesian MCA...tanpa Cina, maka tiada la UMNO!
I feel that this is in some way a reply to LSS's writings; I rebutted some of his claims but my comment was never published. He actually calls it treacherous for criticizing the government. I wonder what you call someone who steals money from a country by the billions, gives it to his stepson, fires people who finds evidence of wrongdoing against the country and puts fire to the country's police HQ, to name a few.
Anyway
MO1 is in too deep in the 1MDB saga, he has to cling to power to not be caught.
He gives incentives to the people that can help him stay in power; between getting kicked out and getting money they chose the money so now they are in too deep, they have to support MO1.
It trickles down from there.
What angers me the most is when they say things like the PM is democratically elected by the rakyat. This is a lie. The rakyat never chose the PM; we chose the wakil rakyats based on constituents. The wakil rakyat (technically) chose the PM.
The wakil rakyats are the people who are in too deep. And whatever ways to prove wrongdoing has been blocked. To top it off, the PM has the power comparable to the Agong, supposedly for security. It's absolute power to someone who's almost absolutely corrupt. This is why the rakyat is so angry.
Naj
Zaidiiii 2.
Kasihan.
Sampah sahaja yg keluar....dari komen2 ko ...
Yelah2 anti
With all due respect Datuk. I think it's high time that you do not publish pembahas Zaidi's comments. Some might agree with me. Just cant brain his imbecile comments. Such a complete nuisance.
salam...
dari WhatsApp group sebelah, saya dapat khabar CEO PNB Tan Sri Hamad Kama Mapiah nak 'BERSARA' Oktober ni. beberapa bulan lepas, Chairmannya Tun Ahmad Sarji yang 'BERSARA'.
tempat Tun Ahmad Sarji digantikan Datuk Seri Wahid Omar.
seperti yang kita sedia maklumi, Datuk Seri Wahid penyokong/penolong/pengikut setia Perdana Menteri. nampak gaya, macam sajer jer letak orang-orang 'sendiri'.
tiba2 teringat kat duit2 simpanan ASN/ASB, tanah-tanah, harta-merta, dan wang melimpah dalam PNB. almaklumlah, PNB kan one of the LARGEST INVESTMENT ARM of the government.
kalau ikut WhatsApp group sebelah, aset terkini PNB ada kurang lebih RM260 (DUA RATUS ENAM PULUH) BILLION. dengar BILLION2 dah rasa seriau, teringat pulak isu 'derma' billion2 sebelum ni.
ada bau apa2 tak??? harap semuanya mewangi bak taman puspa kencana, xmo keluar bau2 busuk lg,yer?
pd mereka2 yg di atas, ingat, we rakyat are watching u. n of course, Allah too... hihi...
Datuk, an excellent writeup on what ails our country.
The leaders are all mad, crazy with love for money, the fairer sex, positions and status symbols.
And they will continue to spew all kinds of crazy talk to their sycophantic followers.
Mad, mad, mad, mad as hatters.
True inequitable growth is not sustainable.
What more insight do we need than Ibn-Khaldun's that history cycles between inequity and equity to arm ourselves for the battle?
Have we?
Datuk.
"Is this the government that listens to people and fulfills its promises as enshrines in its “Janji Ditepati” election?"
5. Sekarang UMNO dikenali sebagai party "janji Melayu"...atau "janji orang Malaya" dikalangan masyarakat Pribumi disini....sejak dibawah naungan pemerintahan kesultanan Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil...
Salam Dato,
Y.Bhg Dato'
I think some damage has occurred in our economy. Most notable is the dependence of the poor on cash transfers from the government to alleviate the impact of rising cost of living.
It does not help to increase productivity to households that fall into this category. Long-term effects can destroy the spirit towards self-reliance and self-esteem.
The Cash transfer program or BRIM is good if focused on increasing productivity among poor families and giving direct assistance to disabled people.
iklas,
rahim
Salam Dato.
Realitinya...negara sedang melalui satu situasi yg cukup getir dan membimbangkan.
Ini berpunca kerana ia ditadbir urus oleh pemerintah yg TIDAK AMANAH SERTA TIDAK CEKAP (LEMAH DLM SERBA SERBI CARA).
Walau pun negara pernah lalui 2 Sejarah Hitam...spt yg Dato lontarkan diatas....tetapi spt komen sy lontarkan sebelum ini;
Salam Datuk,
A criminal case is widely expected to be lodged shortly by United States prosecutors against individuals believed to have stolen money from 1MDB and laundered it illegally in the United States – and the main name in the frame is expected to be Najib’s proxy Jho Low, also a US citizen.
Other probable names include Jasmine Loo (also a US resident); Najib’s step-son Riza Aziz; Eric Tan (who laundered money for Low) and Shahrol Halmi, the CEO of 1MDB during the main part of the period of thefts.
So does Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil and his deddak eaters still want to persist in the "Saudi donation" fantasy?
What can Mappadulung offer the USA?
He has already sold Malaysia to China.
What next?
Datuk.
"All these goes to show just how insensitive and wasteful the government is and how indifferent it is to the suffering of the rakyat."
- The RM50 billion debt created by 1MDB is the most wasteful enterprise ever in the history of financial scandal in Malaysia...in Asia...and perhaps in the world.
- It's a scam.
- This cheating scam by a sitting Malaysian PM is not acceptable by US financial regulator...New York’s Department of Financial Services..."Goldman is being investigated by the feds for USD3 billion that it made through a bond issued (debt) for 1MDB"*
- No one can imagine Goldman could make a profit of USD3 billion!
- "Goldman reportedly transferred half of the profit from the sale to a Swiss bank account controlled by 1MDB. However, the profits disappeared offshore, with some ending up in the Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak’s bank account, the Journal had reported. The investigators believe Goldman may have had reason to doubt that the money was not used for its planned purpose."*

Saya pun mulanya berasa demikian. Krisis ekonomi 86 masih dibangku sekolah.
"KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 ― A former assistant officer with the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry was today sentenced to 21 years' jail and fined RM9,248,554 million after the Sessions Court found him guilty on seven counts of corruption involving RM18.6 million of government community projects.
Judge Allaudeen Ismail handed down the sentence to Hazmi Samsudin, 41, who was with the ministry's National Key Result Area (NKRA) unit, after the defence failed to raise any reasonable doubts in the prosecution's case.
Allaudeen made the decision after hearing testimonies of 41 prosecution witnesses and two defence witnesses, including Hazmi.
He was sentenced to three years jail for each charge, and fined RM9,248,554 for all the charges or imprisonment of four years and six months, if he failed to pay the fine."
What is RM18.6 million as a percentage of 3.5 billion USD?
What is RM18.6 million as a percentage of 681 million USD?
What is RM18.6 million as a percentage of RM42 million?
When will we see justice done to the biggest thief of all?
Datuk,
is it true that the Sungei Besi airport has been sold to China? And, if true, at what price and under what conditions?
Is it true China will buy up all of the land in Malaysia? And at what price?
Assalamualaikum DAKJ.
Analisis ekonomi tetap tahap Analisis sahaja, bukan kuasa mutlak=tepat. Ianya sekadar andaian-perjudi.
Lihat sahaja apa yang berlaku 97/98, Soros yang berkuasa. Mana pergi analisis & pakar-pakar analisis untuk tepus awal serangan Soros...?
Nak ikut rentak 'songkok tinggi' jap.
Kesimpulannya, analisis perubatan tepat tahap 99 %. Analisis ekonomi tahap 50-50 % sahaja. Kesimpulan yang teramat bersimpul-simpul.
Mohd Zaidi,
Amalkan minum air penerang hati banyak-banyak.
(John Steinbeck)
Datuk,
While Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil waits for the EC to do his dirty work and keep Malaysia klepotocratic in the next 5 years, here is a snippet:
"PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Mat issued a warning last night about 'friends' who would try to take advantage of PAS, and said the Islamic party would be better off working in a coalition of honest partners.
Tuan Ibrahim noted that there were calls for the party to work with certain quarters, which he did not name.
PAS, he said, would instead focus on building its own alliance, Gagasan Sejahtera, ahead of the next general election."
I find this rather amusing.
His IKATAN partners helmed by Mr Bow Tie are a pro-BN NGO.
Does Tuan Ibrahim find Umno "honest"?
This must be resolved fast.
If there needs to a distance from DAP, let there be an all-Malay party alliance.
But egos must not kill the people.
For example, if Khalid Samad is in Shah Alam, let Amanah take the seat.
It is about WINNABILITY.
If the Election Cheating (EC) Exercise is wrapped up soon, there is no time for last-minute squabbling.
Remember Kota Damansara in GE13.
.. Lu pikir lah sendiri .. pikir .. pikir.
Lu pikirlah sendirik.
Despite what some netizens may think, the question is too important to be ignored. But there’s a bigger question: Will the opposition parties be willing to come to a compromise?
Assuming that BN is defeated in GE14, it would be more than reasonable to give the party with the largest number of seats the right to appoint the Prime Minister. Partisan sentiments should not matter.
What will definitely matter is whether disagreement on the issue will tear the coalition apart.
It’s easy to say that someone is not fit to be the Prime Minister, but one would be showing political maturity and selflessness if one could accept a former enemy for the post.
For now, though, the opposition leaders can demonstrate maturity and selflessness by agreeing on an election battle plan and a common manifesto.
Datuk.
"Despatch rider charged with insulting IGP on Facebook... 40-year-old part-time despatch rider today claimed trial at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur over a Facebook post deemed insulting to inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar.
Rosmin Mohamed Nor was charged with putting up the insulting and demeaning Facebook posting at Kampung Teluk Bahru 2 Londang, Kota Bharu at about 10.10am on Sept 22.
If convicted under Section 233 under the Malaysian Communication and Mutimedia Commission Act, he stands to face a maximum fine of RM50,000 or not more than one year's jail, or both.
Rosmin was represented by lawyer Nurul Jannah Abdul Rahman while DPP Faridah Nurdinie Baharum prosecuted.
Sessions judge Zaman Mohd Noor set bail at RM3,000 and fixed Oct 28 for mention."

- Sorry Datuk...it's a bit off topic, but I think if we can connect all the dots, we can see what happen in this country.
- the Most Powerful Man on earth at this very moment is the President of the US, Mr.Barack Obama...no one come close to his power...none...so, who dare to insult him? I guess any Tom, Dick and Harry can...every single day...that is why he is the Most Powerful Man on this planet earth...by the way, he is not a Muslim.
- the Most Loved Head of Government...by any last count, is definitely the Queen Elizabeth of the UK...who can insult her?...anybody on this earth can stand at the Speaker Corner and insult the Queen day and night...24/7...that is why she is the Most Loved Head of Government today...if, my memory still serve me right, someone told me she is the Head of the Anglican Church...that make her ot a Muslim too.
- I choose Obama because he is a democratically elected public official and the Queen, the servant of the people.

Sidek was arrested at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters where he had been called in to give a statement, Star Online reported.
This is the second time Sidek has been caught over a tweet he had allegedly posted on Sept 16 following the death of former PAS spiritual adviser Haron Din."

- Sorry Datuk, off topic again.
- Apa la kamu ni Sidek? Apa cerita ni brother?
- Sidek...you look young to me...and, already being accused of insulting Islam.
- Kau ingat ini zaman Rasullulah S.A.W ke bro?
- Itu sudah 1,400 tahun yang lalu la bro.
- Ini zaman Islam, bukan zaman Rasullulah S.A.W...kau faham ke Sidek?

" For sure the government is not honest with the people. Ministers, senior government civil servants and editors spin everything in the hope of fooling the people so much so that they sound like idiots."
- Dahalan said MO1 is Najib.
- Noh Omar said he doesn't know who is MO1.
- PDRM doesn't care who is MO1 because it's a civil, not a criminal case.
- Najib said MO1 is not prosecuted by DoJ and will cooperate with US in the investigation during his recent visit to Germany...what a coincidence Germany has nothing to do with any international investigation involving 1MDB. As a matter of fact, US Media guys were waiting for him to say something like that during the UN session in New York...not, from someone who has difficulty with his English speaking ability...by the way, I just check, we don't have a President in Malaysia.
- Indeed, they are idiots, not sound like idiots.
Alhamdulillah panjang berjela. Make it simple short and sexy.
Assalamualaikum DAKJ.
Datuk.
I like your narrations...Zalman A 11:55 AM...please allow me,
1. "Will the opposition parties be willing to come to a compromise?"
PAS must be realistic. If PAS and UMNO going hudud...there is no Malaysia!
2. "Assuming that BN is defeated in GE14, it would be more than reasonable to give the party with the largest number of seats the right to appoint the Prime Minister. Partisan sentiments should not matter."
Absolutely...the new elected federal government must collectively submit at least two/three names to Agong for his consideration to choose a new Prime Minister. The new Deputy Prime Minister is from the 2nd largest party. All other key ministries like Finance, Defence and Education must be given to the head of the parties.
A new 2nd Deputy Prime Minister from East Malaysia representing Sabah/Sarawak.
3. It’s easy to say that someone is not fit to be the Prime Minister, but one would be showing political maturity and selflessness if one could accept a former enemy for the post.
Personally, I don't see Muhydin as the new Prime Minister...as an interim...probably....nothing personal.
Tun M shook hand with Anwar...that is the new Prime Minister.
4. For now, though, the opposition leaders can demonstrate maturity and selflessness by agreeing on an election battle plan and a common manifesto.
Long overdue Zalman...long overdue...as they are still farting all over the place...
Please la...be guided by Tun M...please listen to him...he is not perfect...far from it...but, the question is, is there anybody else?
Please...I know all of you want to be a cook...look at yourself in the mirror...can you become a Chef?
Sallam Dato’

"The government does not have to force Khazanah to be a park developer and possibly wasting another RM650 million of taxpayers’ money."

- not all Malay is "like that one" Gani Patail...
- not all Malay is "like that one" Zeti...

Today's news:
"Parti Pribumi Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin is confident he can convince PAS to join his party and Pakatan Harapan in an opposition alliance, a move to ensure one-to-one contests against Barisan Nasional (BN) at the next general election.
“We are confident we can act as the glue to ensure PAS would join us to take on BN at the next election,” he told several Kelantan politicians who will form the party’s chapter in the state.
At the meeting, held in Kuala Lumpur, Muhyiddin disclosed that he had met PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang.
Tomorrow, he will speak at a PAS programme, sharing the stage with several Terengganu PAS leaders, including vice-president Idris Ahmad, election director Mustafa Ali and deputy state commissioner Yahaya Ali. The programme is a prelude to PAS’s “Himpunan Harapan Semua (Hope for All Rally)”."
At the risk of repeating myself, this is BY FAR the most important part of the process of removing Datuk Seri I Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sandrobone Sultan Abdul Jalil.
Mappadulung's "strategy" for GE14 is
a) dedak
b) gerrymandering
c) ensuring his hand-picked barua keep him from justice.
If he survives, then the looting of public cash can continue.
That is what the PDN leadership want.
Their religion is money.
Saudara Mohd Zaidi,
Saya cadangkan saudara ambil tuisyen Bahasa Malaysia darjah 3 KBSM.
wow ... could you guys find something more meaningful to talk about ? How about try to understand whats going on in this world and relate that to our current situations ? I have heard enough bullshit from all sides. This type of democracy should be banned, ... yes im talking about your type, and his type .. and also their type.
Mak bapak korang kuat makan rasuah dan jilat pemimpin, masaalah korang semua nih.... ish ish ish.
Kepala hotak mak dgn nenek kau zaidi dungu..

I have written a response to this post here http://syahir521.blogspot.my/2016/09/economic-crisis-ignoring-statistics-and.html
Please publish my comment.
Among others I touched on civil servants salary, debt, external debt etc
Saudara Zed,
Jangan ingat nak ringgit statik (disubsidi lagi), tahun bila tu... ??40an bolehlah 50sen kira bersyukur.
Datuk.
1. There are many systems of governments...and, we are quite free to choose one over the other.
2. Besides Westminster-type of democracy...UMNO-Kleptocracy, the current form of democracy, is a good option actually.
3. As a matter of fact, UMNO-PAS-Hudud-Kleptocracy is a better system for the people of Malaya.
4. Hudud is very suitable for Malayan people...in accordance to the "Grand Fatwa" by the Padang Serai PAS chief Shaharuddin Ibrahim...otherwise, all the Muslims who are not supporting the Act 355 amendment when it comes to a vote in Parliament....will end up in Chinese cemetery....mind you, bloooody expensive those cemeteries you know...not free...but, clean and well organised....not bad actually, despite the fuss.
5. Goodbye Malaysia!
Assalam Datuk.
(12.05pm comment). Well said!
Hujah seperti “don’t do a Goebbels" (jangan buat macam Goebbels) digunakan secara meluas.

Setuju dgn saranan Dato berkenaan dgn muhamad zaidi.
Ayam dedak ni makan disuap oleh tuannya. Waima kalau diberi dedak grade D, maka daginganya pasti jugak grade D. Kalau di lepaskan dari reban alamat mati kebuluran tak pandai cari makan sendiri.
Jadi biarkanlah dia dgn komen grade D nya.
Salam Hijrah.
